Coach Travel

And then people moan because some are plastered by kick off,but the times we get to the oppositions ground it's hardly surprising

LMAO as they say out here "NO YA LIMIT AND DRINK WITHIN IT " ok yeah ya get ya idiots that think they can drink ,

but 4 the rest it's another urchin road trip

then ya going 2 get the rumours that urchin fans only turning up 4 the games and then it's going 2 effect on the return 2

the bridge away fans only turning up 4 the kick off... the bars will feel the effect as only a few home fans will b drinking in them

and then the taking goin down, then the question comes up on wether we keep the bar open 4 match day or not???

Well said Mick.

Sometimes you need to be a little bit drunk to watch our lot.

If people think it's too early why is there always drinking on the coach to the match?

Plus, i thought the reason why we travelled with the players was financial.

O

You haven't been on the coach for months, have you???

People have stopped using the coach

To canvey the other week we had 20 people on it,half were kids

The simple fact of the matter is that when we leave at 11 many youngsters can't attend as they play football in the mornings.Or some people work mornings,

The reason why we travel with the players is financial but when it gets to the point when there are problems because of the length of time we are at the away games and the amount of fans who are excluded from away travel because of the early time, something has to be done.

I am not going to travel at 11am to a game an hour away and get home at 7.30pm when I need to work.

I have had at least 5 people ask me if I can use my motor to go to games as it shortens the day.At the moment I am trying to avoid doing so as it takes away revenue from our coach, but if the situation remains,I will be forced to use my motor

Nice bite Rob.

Fair point about me not going much since Christmas.

But, I did all the long trips away before Christmas.

But my look on football, whether it's Man U. Orient, Droylsden or Hornchurch is the same.

Involves drinking and socialising with other fans.

It's why clubs have bars.

Did Maidstone fans spend any money at our place?

You would be gutted if they didn't use our bar.

You was at Tonbridge.

We needed a drink after that game and the crack with the decent Tonbridge fans that were there.

I am not saying don't socialise with home fans, maybe we could stay behind after games for 1/2 pints, say leave by 5.30 but some games it's 6pm which is too late, especially if people are going out in the evening.

As for going there, most of the times I have given as examples give at least 45 minutes in the bar beforehand which is enough. It's certainly better than getting there at 12.30 and sitting around with no football on tv like we did at Croydon

As I have said, certain games like Hastings,Margate,Lowestoft, bury would be days out and we would probably leave earlier anyway

Just don't see the point in some of the crappier games like carshalton,Harrow, met police etc etc

And I wasn't having a dig about you not coming, just pointing out that it has changed since you last travelled away,no one apart from Thomson drinks on the coach, maybe a couple of people have the odd drink, but it's certainly no booze cruise.Think those days are limited to Lowestoft and Margate games to be honest

I think we need to remember why we are having this discussion. And any discussions are just ideas, nothing is set in stone.

On average,we are given 25 seats per game for supporters. Most games we take about 13-14,I think we probably took more than 18 on the coach twice this season.

Some fans have said that unless the times change they will reconsider travelling on the coach so we have to look at it.

Even on this thread the majority would prefer to leave later.Yes,drink does go hand in hand with football and I hope to have a few days off next season on Saturdays so I can enjoy a good drink up but it won't be every away game.Plus many of our fans are not really drinkers.

Most games we could leave by 12.30 and get to the oppositions ground by 2pm

I would imagine the Tuesday night games may stay the same with regards to travel

2 birds with one Stone.

Have it as an item in the Fanzine for fans to vote on.

Not sure if you do a league table of who travels by coach.

Let people like Jordan and Ian who do all away games have a bigger say than someone who does one or two.

Regardless of my personal view i agree that we need to encourage more people.

Perhaps for every 10 trips you get a free one, or 5 trips and get next one half price.

Not sure whether a cheaper away travel season ticket is a viable option.

Definately things to look at.I am not too sure offering incentives to travel always works, you either want to go or you don't,we offered free travel to Margate in the trophy and it wasn't full.My guess is that some people are just fed up with travelling to the same grounds every year.Maybe if we get a good start to the season it may work out better, who knows.
