Cobham v Worcester Park Tonight

Recommended Posts

Disagree that the top 4 are head and shoulders above the rest but they certainly have been the most consistent. No doubting the standard in division one has risen this season and will continue to do so next i believe.

Refreshng to see WP finally win the league - they are a group of mates and some of them have been there years and a number of others have come through their youth system. Whats good as well in this age where a number of highly average players earn £££ from the game the WP playes all play £7.50 each game.

Excellent News,Worcester Park winning the League, hope they do it next season as well, and maybe, just maybe, stop Westfield from gaining a promotion place.Maybe then you may have a different take on matters. All it does is stagnate a League, when people have no aspirations of going higher, improving their facilities.i JUST HOPE THAT GUILDFORD WIN THEIR APPEAL,OR IF NOT CHERTSEY GET PROMOTED,ELSE THIS SEASON WILL OF BEEN A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY,FOR ALL CLUBS BAR, SOUTH PARK AND FARNHAM.WHO I CONGRATULATE ON GAINING PROMOTION.

Well we all know at the start of the season we need to finish above them. It's not their fault is it? They are doing their best to get lights. Oh hold on Worcester Park can you stop being so good so someone else can get promotion - rubbish......

It's up to the league at the end of the day and give me a proper well run club like WP anyday over your beloved 2 bob Croydon Municipal outfit that stuffed everyone up this year when they decided to pull out !

I think clubs have 2 years from the start of next season to get their ground to the required standard for Division 1 or they will be forced to resign.

We are trying to but it does all come down to money. Our gaffa has spent alot of his own time and money in getting the ground up to scratch to gain promotion. applaus.gif Im sure it will be an improvement to last season. I know that all us players will be spending time working down there on the pitch and facilities to make it the best it can be. We have a youth team starting there season so that will raise funds that will all be put back into the club with the majority of it going on the pitch.

And also a massive well done to Worcester Park. Annoying for us that we took 4 points off them, but i'm sure South Park and Bedfont will say the say about taking 4 and 6 points off us and finishing below us. I suppose that you finish where you deserve to and at the end of the season and the league table doesn't lie. Worthy winners just for the pure amount of goals they score!

Too right Corbs, the league table doesn't lie and you end up where you deserve to end up. Fair play to Worcester Park. Realistically they came from nowhere. As the top three for a long time was Farnham, Sports and S Park. Then all three teams completely blew up dropping points all over the shop! Never known anything like it, with Worcester Park holding their nerve. Anyone know the attendance from last night?

WWW TIMES LIKE THE LAST 8-10 GAMES TO TEAMS AT THE TOP HAVE TO KEEP THEIR NERVE AND NOT FEEL THE PRESSURE OF LOSING AND MUST WIN SITUATION. THE PRESSURE GETS TO PLAYERS FACT, THOSE WHO CAN DEAL WITH IT GET TO BE CHAMPIONS.

NOW I ASK THIS QUESTION. DO YOU THINK THERE IS AN ADVANTAGE TO WP KNOWING THAT THEY CANNOT BE PROMOTED HELPS THEM ? IF THEY WIN THEY ARE CHAMPIONS, IF NOT THEY STILL CANNOT BE PROMOTED WHERES THE PRESSURE. WHEREAS THE OTHER 3 CLUBS CAN GET PROMOTED SO THE STRESS OF GETTING THE CORRECT GROUND FACILITIES PLYS PRESSURE ON THE CLUB THUS TO ALL ASSOCIATED WITH IT.

NOW TO ALOT OF PEOPLE NO DOUBT THAT MAY THINK THAT SOUNDS STUPID..... BUT JUST THINK ABOUT IT...............?

Agree with the pressure but it think we (S PARK) dealt with it very well in the end for a young side. What killed us was the Cup runs (ended up playing 18 extra cup games) especially the County Cup final, might sound funny and would never change it, but going to extra time against a fitter younger side took alot out of us and took a while for us to get over it. And the next two weeks we had 4 tough games, Farliegh (A) Staines (H) Worcester Park (A) Bedfont (A) and only got 1 point out of 12, which ended the title challenge.

Congrats WP, best team the last 2 years, were unlucky last year, but will they keep hold of their players? Its like lammas when we won the league twice and couldn't go up, players won't want to keep playing in this league, their want new challenges, like half our team did!

Well done to Worcester Park.

If you're looking for advantages/contributing factors then surely 9 out of their final 10 matches being played at home has to be mentioned. Presumably there was a good reason for this but still a nice comfort when you're going for a title and playing catch-up.

As I said, presumably there was a good reason for the fixturing, and a neutral ground has to be better than playing in a division rival's backyard.

MAYBE SO GP, BUT I THINK CRICKET HAS A BIG SAY AT WP THATS WHY THEY CANNOT HAVE ANY HOME GAMES AT THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE SEASON.......... AGAIN, I STAND CORRECTED THO'..........
