Town travel to Mill Field on Thursday, to face potential central division champions Aveley.

I sound boring, but we will be taking a very young set of lads to an away game again. The fact that Aveley Res have not lost a home ressie game this season will give them the ultimate test of their abilities. Aveley will also be on a high as their first team also escaped relegation from the Ryman Prem Division with a last game of the season victory on Saturday.

The league table i've seen shows them 4th off the bottom. I thought only 3 went down.

Champions and play off winners from two divisions getting promoted means four clubs need to be relegated.

Then Andy is right Aveley are down on GD, which means they'll be pretty miserable on Thursday for our reserves. Who will now be predominantly the U17's who'll be turning out for us. It'll be good experience for them.

A very creditable 2-2 draw for the Capital League side last night, up against an Aveley side containing a number of Romford first team starters (including Kurt Smith, a perennial thorn in our flesh). Aveley now need to win their final game against Enfield 1893 next Tuesday to retain the divisonal title.

 

Town took the lead with a superb goal from Izci Eren, whose close control saw him weave his way past 4 or 5 defenders before doing the same to the home side's 'keeper before slotting home. Vaughn Duguid, who had earlier been denied a strong penalty shout scored powerfully from a free kick to send Town 2-1 up at half time.

 

Aveley came back strongly in the second half, but Town dug deep holding Avely out until close to the end of the game. Another, even more appealing, penalty shout was waved away midway through the half- perhaps the referee's view was obscured by the dust clouds that accompanied every tackle?
