Good to see 2 of the Youth team players playing ...

 

Did quite well for a 1st game ... Tony did ok but I am sure will feel he did not justify himself , but its early days.

 

Izzie did a good job too , and in fact got better as the game went on ... well done to both of the youth boys ... hope it may continue..

 

for a bright future for our club..

I thought both did all right, but it was evident to see that there is quite a gap between playing for the U18s and the first team and SYCOB didn't look that great.

 

Mendy was "welcomed" to the senior game by Wharton, but I think where he probably finds it easy to canter through U18 defences needs to know that a higher work rate is needed to succeed at this level. If you had him on the field along side Burnell and in particularly Sonner, Mendy would look a bit work shy and seemed to be waiting for things to happen.

 

Few more games at this level though and they will soon adjust.

One thing I noticed with mendy was he was not prepared to be pushed around by the defenders, when he went for the ball he often ended up pushing the defender to the floor.

He did also come close to scoring, managing to sneak in a touch when played through and unfourtunately it went wide.

 

"Izzie" did what he could i feel, the bobbly pitch didn't help him at all as he found it very difficult to control the ball which meant that he was often caught out by the attackers but credit to him he carried on and fought on and this was shown when he made an excellent 1-on-1 saving slide tackle on one of their players late on in the game.
