Jake Leberl

Just spotted another topic about this further down the page. Jake's been playing pretty regularly this season - 20+ appearances for Faversham. Only 33 so decent chance he could do a job for us next season I'd have thought.

Trouble is didnt we go down this route with John Keister and co. Fitness is becoming the key factor in this league as we have all noticed this season our lads seem to wither away after 60 minutes of play, dont get me wrong I personnaly couldnt do 6 seconds of the running that they do but Im not being paid to tho

Fitness needs to be pushed to the top of the pile of CKs objectives and a few swift Midfielders to boot and at 33 Jake isnt gonna be that swift IMO - just an opinion and not worth shooting me over :)

CK did hint that players were not as fit as they should be.

Notwithstanding that most managers say that when they come in-i do think in this instance he is correct,so hopefully JL will take on full responsibility for raising their levels.

I have no idea of the relative qualities as coaches of JKeister and JLeberl.

All i did observe from afar is that JK was very good at swearing ,and again-only from afar-i got the inkling that his inter-personal skills fell a bit short.

I hope that JL can improve on that-and these days-there is more to being a coach/manager than blaspheming at refs and players

Hopefully (and no disrespect to Jake) he is not a player/coach but just 1st team coach. As mentioned by Andy and picked up in CK's interviews the fitness level of the players has been what has held this club back.

Yesterday JL took a full and active part from the bench in assisting CK and hopefully this can be the start of a VERY succesfull partnership.

Finally I must say standing behind the dugouts yesterday it was a plaesure not to hear the usual tirade of meaningless swearing BUT constructive coaching.

Agree. Every player is different, some need a kick up the back side, some need a quiet word. Generally being abusive creates barriers and loses respect.

We as spectators should also be aware of the impact of negative words towards players on our own side. How do you think a young defender feels when, a mouth in his own crowd shouts "take him of, he's sh*t". In the couple of games he has lately played in ressie friendlies he has had encouragement, we have seem the confidence start to return, we have seen the promising kid again.

As for fitnesss, I have been banging on all season about the lack of it.

When i saw a "top earner" run down the right towards the penalty box infront of the club house. He got to the edge of the box and that was it knackered, his legs tied up. 3 seasons ago he would have gone on to score from that position.

Welcome back Jake. A past victim of the boo boy's.

Could have missed it elsewhere but in CK's interview from yesterday he mentions that Jake Leberl is now our coach. He's been player-coach at Faversham this season.

Interesting that IOC did'nt have an assistant for most of the season. Was that his choice or down to budget restrictions?

Superb midfielder.

Scored a cracker at Aldershot in our win there in 2003 I think. Funniest moment was at Dorchester when I was reporting for BBC Kent or Capital Gold forget which now, the stadium announcer there called him Jake Leberry.

Tip for announcers do your research.

I said "IOC didn't have an assistant for MOST OF THE SEASON". Good luck to JK who is now a coach for the Sierra Leone FA.

To be pedantic, Iain had JK as coach / assistant until 9th Feb so yes for most of the season during which Iain was manager JK was in place.

Love it Steve - some people seem to latch onto misinformation and twist it for their own purpose - wonder why????

Because they're planners .... OOOPS! it just slipped out! ;-)

Meant to post quite a bit earlier - confirmation of Jake's appointment on the official website.
