Whilst walking to the game on Saturday I stopped to chat to some people I know and was asked where I was going.

 

When I said to watch Margate Football Club one of the teenagers (approx 17 years old) asked who do I support "in the real world"!!!!!!!!

 

Mind you she was female so what does she know about football????

 

(Maybe a lot more than certain local councillors!!)

I have come across the 'proper team' comment many times. I have given up trying to explain why I only support Margate.

I have similar experience - people at work believe me to be slightly deranged anyway so Margate supporter is just another proof of my being soft headed!

Agreed-maybe its a geographic thing-down here in the south west-where there is minimal 'london influence',and its hardly awash with premiership and championship teams-folk respect you supporting non league football.
