Team's performance against Lowestoft

What a difference in class. We didn't have one shot on target (as far as I remember), while our opponents could easily have scored 6 or 7. I was embarrassed to watch it.

The difference was not tactics, it was individual skill levels. There was a whole difference in class, more obvious today than any game I have seen this season, and that was against a team just hoping for the playoffs, not walking the league.

If our club really wants to compete for promotion next year there will have to be a wholesale clearout in the summer, and decent money made available for better class players. If not, it will be another relegation dogfight, and the new messiah will be yesterday's news.

Kinda agree with different class bit but surely you have to agree this season we (team) has not performed at home and that is where the main problem lies. Relegation before the manager has chosen a team yet is defeatist to say the least but today was I agree embarassing and I think CK will not want to be known as the messiah as thats not really his bag. Give the NEW team a chance (same old story) but cmon peeps new season new team but "higher" expectations :)

And I get accused of negative posts lol. Let's keep things in perspective, because in fairness, Lowestoft have conceeded the fewest amount of goals in the league and only lost 6 like Sutton. I couldn't make todays soiree but my friends who were there (and not wanting to put words in their mouths) felt it was very poor.

Agree..get rid of all the rubbish..

I know everyone has their favourites and people love players but we need to be honest..who are players who are gunna help us challenge for promotion..

NOT:

Welford

Wilson

Osbourne

Lacy

O'brien (is that even his name)

Miller

The short goalie

I'd keep:

Hill

Cloke

Robinson

Then maybe:

Lagiano

Groombridge

Bradbrook

Sorry if I missed any..and I like welford and wilson, and they are clearly nice people..but they aren't gunna help us progress in this league

Oh and ball I'd keep..sorry forgot him

Difference was they played to their strengths namely the long ball over the top and chasing everything. It certainly was not pretty but effective. The comment with regard to individual players is unfair, i just thought they played much better as a team. The Gate's problem is we have two centre forwards who at the moment are having to create their own chances. Lowestoft had two wide players and indeed the first three goals came from balls into the box from them. If Welford and Bradbrook are to be effective they need some service and this will only happen if the formation changes and move away from the five three two we effectively play which concedes the midfield. We therefore need a couple of effective wide players. There is no need for a wholesale clear out which the Gate can ill afford in any event.

The first goal came from a missed tackle by our supposed great prospect, the second from two successive mis-kicks in trying to clear, and then nobody closing down the scorer.

As for support for the forwards, they saw plenty of the ball but didn't have the skill to get in scoring positions. Sorry to disagree (this is a forum after all!), but I have to say - in my humble opinion - it was nothing at all to do with tactics, and everything to do with individual ability.

And by the way, I don't blame the goalkeeper, who I thought had a decent game and no chance with the goals.

A glaring diffence in the teams performances today was ball control. This has been noticable all season for me.

Lowestoft players & players from other teams first & foremost know how to keep control of a ball. We seem lacking in that skill. Other things follow on from there.

Not there-so unfair to comment.

All i simply observe is that our record has worsened since we lost marsden, and worsened further after Saunders left.

Maybe it willl be evident to CK that we have just one midfield player in wilson.

Groombridge is ok as a defensive midfielder-but you can have ronaldo and rooney up front-but until youy win the central midfield-you will get nowhere.

Maybe he was ok today-so i can't comment-but Pinnock is not a midfield player .

CK's priority is to sign 2/3 central midfield players-that will solve 70% of the issues;and give us some possesion

Agree whole heartedly as our players seem to pass more to the opposition creating the exttra man for their side. We looked out of our depth today and bearing in mind some of our players are from Conf South I say good luck to Lowestoft in the playoffs cos they deserve it IMO

Have to disagree as felt the only ball the forwards got was up in the air, backs to goal with defenders in close attention. There is little they can do but flick it on and hope. Not once did we get behind them and pull the ball back across their goal for our forwards to attack. I just feel that it is unfair to criticise their ability when they are not given an opportunity to show it due to the manner in which the team is set up.

I agree that we were poor today - had a feeling we would lose as Lowestoft have a good away record and are going for the playoffs and at half time was concerned they might come out and hammer us in the second half - some of their team play was very good. Presenting them with goals by defensive errors was not the way to keep them out. We just seemed to lump it forward hoping Sean and Tom might do something but they were well marshalled by a strong defence - Wayne Wilson should have known better and most of his stuff either bounced straight to the goalkeeper or sailed way over the top. Aaron Quain provided something but was on too late. In my opinion Sam Groombridge needs some guidance and hope Kinnear will see that and provide it. I feel sorry in particular for Sean Welford as he does try his best but is clearly struggling. And, dare I say it, another poor ref and assistants performance. Roll on next week - another top coming here that does well away ?.

Utter, utter tripe. CK must realise the enormity of the task. No reason to pull any punches (and don't give me all thisrubbish about the players read the forum blah blah blah), realistically I'd only keep 3 or 4 players of this squad. Still think Turner is a quality keeper at this level; despite his poor performance yesterday, still think Robinson is a good defender, and should be retained; and, despite their critics, personally I'd keep Welford and Bradbrook. With the right sort of service, I'm sure they would score goals. The problem is, we don't have a decent midfielder at the club. And as for some of our so-called superstars in defence, they must be living on past glories; not worth retaining at all.

Back to yesterday's game: Lowestoft barely got out of second gear, and the second half in particular was just a stroll. You got the feeling that if they really needed to (and, let's be honest, they didn't) they could easily have put at least another three past us. Easily the best team I've seen at this level for quite a while. But we didn't help our own cause with so much sloppy play. Looking likely that they will make the playoffs now and, if they secure that all-important second spot (and home advantage), you'd have to fancy them to progress. All the best to them.

First priority has to be to bring back Marsden in the summer. The season has been a complete non-event since he left.

Lacy, Osborne, Groombridge, O'Brien, Wilson, Pinnock (as much as he's worked his nuts off for the club), I think have all run their course with us.

Some big decisions for CK to make as I could only call maybe 3 or 4 definite keeps, one of them being the goalkeeper.
