A sports development which requires no public funds, which apart from helping the club will also benefit the community............. its a no brainer really

Have got about 6 to change their vote from tory to lib dems

Make that 12 Pagey, I am disgusted with the way the Tory council have acted and will just to spite them vote Lib Dems (might even write a E-mail to Cameron see what he has to say about it).

I am no political animal but this whole thing has made me think. Because I and many others ( look at the low turnout at local elections ), are complacient these politicians thrive on this and hold the power over us it should be the other way around. Lets Look at the facts

1) Funding in place for development

2) operator in place Travelodge.

3) Council won't approve smaller development on amendment as they had told the club they wanted less impact on the park and told club that plans submited would be delt with on amendment.

4) National Tory policy to ask council to approve more planning applications on amendments and not full planing.

5) National Tory policy get more private funding for sports facilities.

As I say I am no political animal but if the Tory Councilliors are monitoring this forum as I expect they are come and log on and put me right and lets start a political debate.

Also if any other party would like to let us know where they stand before this election please come and let us know.

Have had a look at Moores blog and whilst trying to justify his position he is shifting the blame onto the Council officials in the planning and legal departments!!!!!

As it seems that he is just agreeing with unelected local civil servants what is the point of him being a councillor????

The comments on this thread deserve the attention of the local media.at this local election time.

Now how can we draw their attention to this ? Any ideas ?

I was thinking a similar thing earlier. The trouble is we would need to get facts right and quite a good amount of proof that there has been unfair treatment of the club, unless the local media will be willing to dig for us.

Some prime points to check before putting anything forward (in my opinion as someone with no knowledge of planning procedures or projects) would be.....

  • What other planning applications have had this much trouble going through and were there valid reasons?
  • What planning has gone through without these sorts of problems despite public opposition such as the Turner Contempt and looking forward, possibly Pierremont Park?
  • Do applications that do not involve using tax-payers money (and therefore no glory or profit for the council) struggle to get through more than council involved ones?
  • Is it normal practice for a council to lead an applicant to feel that they are going to vote one way and then vote the other way on the day?
  • Is it true that the Tories are encouraging councils to push more amendments through rather than fresh applications? If so, what makes Margate's application an exception to the rules?
  • With rumours of things being said at the meeting, is there any legal obligation for the entire recording to be made available, without things being cut out, just in case what was said is not there once it is made available?
  • Who is actually in charge of the decision making as there now seems to be a bit of buck-passing going on? And whoever that is, who do they answer to?

These are just a few things that spring to mind that need clarification before anyone can put forward an argument. If these can be collated and shown to contradict the way Margate's application has been treated then I think there would be a good argument to be had.

Am eagerly awaiting the recorded events of the meeting Steve. It WAS stated they would be made available at some date though that might be a long way off I'm guessing.

Am keeping an eye on the TDC website though I probably wouldn't know exactly where on there you look for it. I'll tell you when the time comes if anything has been ommitted (from the time I was there anyway).Oh I'll wager them editing it to suit. There should be minutes of the meeting too so that should ensure nothings tampered with.

Oops just remembered its TDC we are dealing with here so even the minutes might show an untrue story. We will have to wait & see on this one I suppose.

Was told KP is going to ask Travelodge if we can build the bigger version of the hotel.

Hope Keith can, that would bugger up the council's agenda against the club. Going with the approved plans must be the best way forward, still wouldn't trust the council though. Oh and just got back from the "approved although nobody wanted it but no consultation" Turner Centre. Took my family, it took ten minutes to see absolutely nothing warranting the millions spent, truly appalled. The return of Dreamland would have been so much more beneficial. Lib Dems will get my vote this time after 30 years of being a Tory.

At the game at Cray Wanderers yesterday I notice that they were submitting a planing application for a new ground in Cray, hope they have better luck with their council. I noticed that with their application was a letter of support from a Dartford fan, Dartford of course had massive help from their council with even an injection of cash to see their project through, we are not asking for that just permission for a new facility. I will relay the letter.

I am a Dartford FC supporter and can't tell you enough how a new football facility can improve the local communnity. This will benefit everyone fron the very young to the old, giving the younger generation something to do on a Saturday and some weekdays rather than congregate on local estates. I can only speak for the tremendous impact Princess Park has made in Dartford.

It seems that Dartford Council have fore sight and vision which imo is sadly lacking in Thanet so please remember this when you are casting your vote.

I know Margate FC want to expand it's community work but need the facilities to do so and we could have a facility like Dartford.

It seeems imo that votes are more important than having a facility that will benefit the area imo please come and correct me if I am wrong. I have asked to have a debate the silence from the politicians is deafing.

It also appears that un elected people are setting the council policy, again I know very little of the workings of a council but if true is this right, my information i belive is from Cllr Moores blog again correct me if I am wrong.

These are all things that should be taken in account when you consider who to vote for in May.

Could we have a quick poll of who will not be voting Tory at the May elections it would be very interesting. We have had some people on but their are people who may not come on this forum like me till this angred me so much so it would be interesting to see, and anyone who has changed people's minds over this issue. I know some people are actively campaigning but share your views and again any politican who would like to correct us please feel free as I said lets have a debate, it could be like Question Time.

I am no political animal and can't really add anything to the value of this thread.

Have to say though-makes interesting reading, and without being patronising in anyway-impressed by the quality of the debate which all seems to make perfrct sense.

I am also left with the impression that the case in favour is so strong ,and the views posted above-as someone else suggests- should be forwarded DIRECT to the Prime Ministers office
