If I read right it goes back to the Cabinet...........so that self centre head up his own @sre Westgate councillor can finally say his piece in his official capacity which he was at pains to tell the world and his wife.

is a cabinet session open to the public?

Taken from the Isle of Thanet Gazette discussion page on Facebook.

Lines in bold are taken from the Conservative manifesto printed there on Wednesday

The other lines are my reply

"Promise not approve new plans for Margate Football Club at the Hartsdown site or give a long-term lease without public consultation."

Is this the same public consultation that was used when 2 acres of land was GIVEN to build the Turner Centre when only one acre was actually needed.

"Seek more funding for facilities to promote sports"

Would that be the private investment that will be used to redevelop Hartsdown Park to boost the community facilities that the local ruling Tory group have continually blocked despite the main Conservative party saying the private sector should replace public funding

As a life long Conservative voter and party member I am disgusted by the attitude of the Thanet Conservatives and I feel that I cannot support them in the forthcoming election

If this is true then my political view will be changing - :flame:

And mine, the whole meeting was a shambles.

I wouldn't let that lot be in charge of my penny jar, let alone multi millions of the taxpayers money.

Whilst events have obviously moved on;if i recall correctly;it was initially announced about 6 months ago that the Tivoli road end was goijng to go ahead with the build (before the 'dressing room/hotel side).

One assumes therefore-if i recall correctly-and if reported correctly-that funding was in place at that stage; for the tivoli road development in isolation.

About 4 weeks later,it was then announced that this was being 'postponed' due to a partner-travellodge - looking to go ahead with the development of the 'hotel' side;and understandably-it made sense for both builds to be virtually concurrent-not least one again assumes - as the travellodge development made the funding alot easier.

However-before this-as above-i am sure at one stage, the tivoli road end was supposedly going ahead anyway.

Things change of course over time-but if the first paragraph is correct (and i'm pretty sure that is as reported) is there an incy wincy tiny chance that the tivoli road end deveopment of stand, pitches and changing rooms could still go ahead imminently;whilst the hotel side is being sorted ?

I am not aware of any changes to plans for this part of the development.

How it was being funded-i have no idea-persumably through the generosity of one of Mr Levers organisations at that stage .

Would be one in the eye for a few people if out of the bluie, the club reverted to plan A and commenced the tivoli road development whilst the rest is 'sorted'.

Was i dreaming at the time ( i know i am now ) but is my recollection of the initial chain of events correct ?

'True communication is the response that you get'

nil response-that puts me in my place then !!

Notwithstanding the quality political debate live on another thread, am being a bit selfish here by bringing this thread back to 'top of mind';as whilst appreciating that it ain't gonna happen-i remain curious as to whether the initial sequence of events outlined in post above was actually correct.
