More pitch woes

Turns out Beaconsfield's sprinkler system is broken.

A situation Beaconsfield really need to get a grip with as it can't be helping them on the pitch too, on top of that it is going to make it difficult to attract players to the club whatever league Slough are in next season.

I think there's a very good chance of us fielding youth team players against SYCOB if we seal the playoff spot tomorrow, as Bates clearly has no preference over potential opposition, just that any semi final and final would be away. I gather quite a few of the youth side signed Southern League forms.

I'm sorry but this pitch business has become an absolute joke. You've only got to read the forums of the teams we play and it is truly embarassing the comments you read.

Ashford said their pitch is bad but the surface they played on the other night was the worst they've seen.

How long has the watering system pump been broken? The pitch has needed watering for the last month or so, so how long does it take to order and fit a new pump?

IMO we are far too soft with SYCOB and need to demand that the surface is kept in a reasonable condition or we take our business elsewhere.

With Bateman hinting at the future and Tony Mendy scoring 5 more last night what are the chances of him being in the team? - Bateman has blanked him so far!

SB has watched Tony Mendy this season and the only conclusion can be that he doesn't think he's ready for the first team yet.

Or that Mendy has commitments elsewhere that clashes with playing for the first team. Which I think has already been mentioned on this forum before.

Of course, always a possibility but he does seem to be available for most midweek games for the under 18's. I also know he plays on Sunday mornings, not sure if he plays for anyone on Saturday's.

Tony Mendy has not missed a game for the youth team this season ! he is as committed as any of the other players.. for the Youth Side...

I have just returned from Beaconsfield SYOB (Friday night) ...where your Chairman Steve Easterbrook and the Trust Chairman have been all day ..helping Colin and Dave from

Beaconsfield ..to get some water on the pitch for tomorrow's game ..the 2 grounds men (are volunteers too and try to do there best but at times don't get the help they need either)

When I arrived at 6pm ..Steve had arranged for the Local Fire brigade to help , and the Fire service from Holtspur , were on hand to pump over 7,000 gallons of water (4 full tanks full ) onto

the pitch tonight ...But we have to say now ..its barely done the trick ! ...again tomorrow morning we will try to put some more water on the goal areas ...but by 3 pm tomorrow with the

expected hot spell to continue will proberly be dry as a bone again...

Our thanks should go the both Mike and Steve for trying to rectifying the situation..................

Fantastic effort from Steve and Mike and just shows the type of committed people we've got at Slough.

perhaps this years money has been spent on a new flatscreen tv for the club house or something its about time sycob s management got their priorities right, if they want to make money then they have to have the product then they have to maintain it if this is at the expense of some social niceties for the club house then so be it, i'm sure at this moment the bar is probably their biggest money spinner but if we move awaythen that is going to drop dramatically , i'm sure it is going to cost them as we are wishing for an away tie in the play offs , with that on your cv how are you going to attract other teams to replace us when we move. just hope that when we move to our new ground we learn from this experience and do everything in our power to keep the playing surfacein the best condition it can be.

No pitch in non leauge with a groundshare and ressies/youth etc playing on it is going to be good. If a manager fails to prepare for that when its obviously going to happen he can only blame himself!

I see Beaconsfield were advertising the forthcoming car show to be held at Holloways Park for the second year running. 100 cars or more parked on the playing surface and people trampling all over it. I'm all for clubs getting in revenue but given the difficulties with the pitch I'd have thought they'd have taken more care of it.
