SOCA - Soccer Opportunities and Coaching Apprenticeships

Chelmsford City FC is offering an excellent football opportunity for 20 school leavers to play full time. The club in partnership with Chelmsford College have developed an apprenticeship scheme for promising young football players that enables them to train and play full time while attaining National Vocational Qualification in Coaching, FA Coaching and other football/coaching related qualifications.

Whilst attending the programme, each player will coach in the community and be on duty at 1st team games. For this they will be paid as part of their NVQ apprenticeship.

The selected players will represent Chelmsford City FC U19 Youth Team and train and play under the guidance of the youth team manager, a former professional and UEFA ‘A’ Licensed Coach.

Players accepted onto the scheme will be part of a highly talented squad and will strive to reach the highest level possible in football.

Training

Each player will:

  • Train as full-time football players.
  • Work on various technical or tactical situations.
  • Have a specific training programme designed to ensure their fitness levels are improved and maintained.
  • Play in a competitive league and have the opportunity to play in cup competitions.
  • Take the FA Level 1 coaching and some may be selected to take Level 2.
  • Have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience coaching football.
  • Receive a full training kit and a weekly salary.

Entry Requirements

Acceptance on to the programme is based on performance in trials held in June. To be accepted, players will also need to be enrolled with Chelmsford College where they will attend one day a week to gain an NVQ. Entry is limited to 20 players; the quality of play will be understandably high.

All interested applicants should call 01245 293164

Please let me inform you that both coaches are UEFA 'A' Licenced, former professionals (one being former West Ham, Celtic, Ipswich and Watford player Stuart Slater). I would advise you in the future to find out all the facts before discrediting any project as I'm sure you wouldn't want that done to you. This opportunity is a work based scheme offering paid employment, playing full-time football. Surely this should be promoted? Many thanks SOCA.

This programme is running at both Canvey Island and Chelmsford City to give more options to players that are good enough to play full-time. Thanks SOCA.

Enrico didn't you advertise a job on this forum? What's the difference?

Money is the difference.Taxpayers money that is pumped into projects like these. It's a big cow to milk mate and at the end of it we'll see what comes to fruition.Wait and see.Years ago old coaches working with young players were the secret behind England 1966 success. Now you get 19 years old with all the qualifications and used as cheap labour in some schemes.A lot of money has been thrown at Colleges,Schools but what has been the end result.Tell me mate.Other countries produce better good young players with a 20th of what is invested in grass roots over here. It's all a load of bollix if you ask me,only a personal opinion though.coffee%20(2).gif
