Just read the thread after CK was sacked, interesting that most of the people upset by his sacking are still active on this forum and most of the others aren't. Get the impression that now longstanding supporters would love to see him back and newer fans wouldn't be in favour. Maybe you have to know how bad things were before CK to truly appreciate what he did?.....

You say things were bad but in the twenty years prior to CK we won one promotion, one Kent Senior Cup and one appearance in the Eastern Floodlit Cup Final.

In CK's ten years we only won two promotions, a top ten finish in the Conference, a League Cup and 4 Kent Senior Cups (including 3 back to back).

I agree with the people who say we should never go back. Wouldn't it be awful if we have another ten years like that?

And then there was that terrible day when we were live on sky TV, against the big boys of Fulham managed by Kevin Keegan!!! We wouldn't want to back to that again.

Yeah would really hate to see Fulham down here again as would Colin Page, my niece, my sons and Laurence Ball!!!!

Just in time for you to wish him all the best despite not wanting him in charge. Understandable from somebody who doesn't know who Steve West or Ben Clarke are / were o suppose. It's obviously ok to be a new supporter but its something else to make 100s of posts in a few months and doubt CK (he was a previous manager of ours) and suggest somebody like Julian Dicks (done nothing as a manager) or another 'big name' when that never works in non league football. We have a golden chance here to rectify probably the most stupid managerial decision in MFC'S history ie firing CK.

Sorry to disapoint you psych but I am still here and active and have not changed my views.

However, I did shake his hand yesterday and welcome him back .

It is now up to him to make me eat humble pie.

I'm going to come in here & give my opinion on CK. Look we had some wonderful years under him & as mentioned the evidence speaks for it itself.

I recall being amongst many who at Ashford gave him a rousing welcome at one of our home games. It was thought he was leaving at that time & we didnt want that & he decided to stay.

It was later that his style of play began to be seen one dimensional & teams playing us then knew how we played & how to get results & things started to go sour mainly, again i.m.o. due to that kind of play. Play that admittedly got us honours in previous years but which were now beginning to see our downfall.

When Chris went I accepted it & I felt the board were spot on with their decision...at the time. I still think the decision was right at the time despite my high regard & support for him .Since then we really haven't got things together I admit & chopping & changing managers has also not been productive.(I still believe Terry Yorath would have done better given time).

Anyway back to the present. Big rumours that he is coming back & at this stage I would welcome ANYONE that can put things right & see us go forward again.

CK's previous style of play might well work again who knows but times have changed a bit since then, though in the main football hasn't so it could work. What I would like from CK if he came here is for him to have a few other ideas up his sleeve, a few other ways of playing than he once had.

CK has to change more & adapt this time round. If he can do that to go with his vast experience,(even more since he left us), plus his footballing knowledge then we may well return to days gone by with all of us turning up to see a winning team once again with crowds of 1000 or more returning. It's highly obvious this club is still in his heart so he has that going for him too.

Those 1000 plus people who once came through the turnstiles are still out there awaiting success before they venture back through the gates. Sad I know that some are like that but thats the way with some people unlike those of us who stick with things through thick & thin.

If CK comes back it can't be worse than we have seen over the past few years & at this time I would welcome hm back to give it another crack if indeed the rumours are true that he will.

Good Luck Chris if we see you as gaffer again.

The only way is "up" anyway. ,

It did'nt work with the last ' marquee' manager in Yorath, who was not in touch with the ryman league.

OK -CK has lower league background and but it was a few years ago -does he still have lower league connections with players-i simply do not know.

6 years is quite a long time-we all age in that time.

Is CK still 'up ' for managing and november nights out in barren Essexx -Yorath was'nt.

We all may hate to admit it-but when you get to mid fifties-do you really want that any more ?

In your 50's are you sufficiently 'in touch' with 19 year old players- ?

I fear it could be another Yorath situation if CK is appointed

Don't agree about CK being found out tactically, just think he ended up having to play lots of people who I'm sure he knew weren't up to it. But i think most of us could agree things can't get much worse. So if CK comes back and it doesn't work out I can't see we'll have lost much and if ever a manager warrants a second chance its surely Chris.

Sort of reminds me- can i have that much confidence in someone who -whatever the financial circumstances - signs Charambolous TWICE !!

I don't think Cookie applied as he doesn't suggest he has all the answers, just the opinions of a long standing supporter.

Whether the opinions are deemed to be right or wrong in other peoples eyes is irrelevant. He has just conveyed how he felt at the time CK left and how he would feel if he came back.

I am not sure where he is suggesting to have all the answers?
