Think its about 20 games since Shaun scored from open play, amazing really.

Could be a new record taking over from David Blaine & joining Fernando Torres as the joint record breakers for being in the box for over 40 days without doing anything.

Funny but sadly true - An industrious player but is it showing our teams shortfall or his...... never seen SW give anything less than 100% so Im of the opinion that he is either too good for this side or he's getting too old and has seen better days - former methinks

re:S.Welford - A workhorse certainly & worth his weight in gold as far as that is concerned but seems to be lacking a cuttng edge these days sadly.His footwork skills aren't a strong point with him either. Having said that he's Still worth having in the side IF we can get him a provider.WW cant always do it on his own.

thats almost a double negative..... why would we celebrate having been safe for most of the season...... you are a confusing chappie arent you.

I think that the trouble with Welford is that he is having to do too much work outside of the area. He is always tracking back or chasing out to the wings when he is far better as a target man in the middle. He cannot be there to finish it if he is the one chasing out to the corner flag in the first place.

Ive been saying that for weeks now so why does he do it , answer no one out there to put crosses in so he goes out wide to provide the crosses himself . As you say though Steve he should be the target man .

Not necessarily from 'crosses though.

 

For me-its been the fundamental lack of numbers and quality in central midfield from early November-those are the guys to create the chances-as many say-Wilson can't do it all in central midfield.

 

Control the game by having 3 central midfield players and groombridge just behind them.

You then have enough players in central midfield to control the game.

 

The likes of Lacy and whoever is at left 'wingback' can `provide width and crosses for welford ,and you have enough cover by dominating central midfiield with 3 guys in there.

 

Was it any coincidence that Shaun was scoring for fun when there were 3 proper central midfield players of decent quality available in wilson,saunders and marsden and thus creating more goalscoring opportunities ?
