WP 3-0 Lammas

I believe we lost to the best team in the league by a mile. Lammas battled hard all game and had chances from set pieces to nick the lead but WP went 1 up thru the massive number 9. Then about 10 mins later I thought I'd help there title bid when I turned a cross into the back of our net! Cheers!!! Lammas could have scored one or 2 thru Hadley and Hollis only to be denied by the goal. Second half it was pretty boring and we though we would help them out again when hadley headed into our net. Gave away 3 sloppy goals but Wp are the best team we've played by a mile. Strong and play with a quick tempo. Admittingly we haven't played for a while and lacked match fitness. Sorry newby we tried!

Colliers Wood 4 - 1 Bookham, scoreline flattered The Woods as Manny Quarsie scored a hatrick and Mario Embarlo scoring. At times it was hard to see why Bookham are where they are in the table.

From Twitter:

Croydon 1 - Molesey 1

Raynes Park 1 - 3 MVSCR

Sandhurst youth1 Camberley youth 4

Some good individual performances from the Camberley boys 6,7,8,11 in particular and a very strong performance from the Camberley No1.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, 4 worldies from Camberley and a great performance from Merc on the line.

Not a bad playing surface either.. Shame about those idiots that set fire to the Sandhurst stand.

Thanks Weeble. Much appreciated. Those goals were cracking. It was very sad to see the Sandhurst stand in its current state :-(

Grant-McLellan Youth Cup Semi-Final

Knaphill U18 3 - 1 Cobham U18

Kelly

Wilson

Fraser

The Mighty Knappers strode into the final with an an impressive display against a hard working Cobham side. 0-0 at half time although Knaphill missed a superb chance tp go 1-0 up with the last kick of the first half. Dan Kelly opened the scoring with Sam Wilson making it two soon after. Cobham hit back immediately with a delicate chip over Louis Martin in the Knaphill goal. Bradley Fraser made it 3-1 with ten minutes to go and the Knappers held on for a famous win and a cup final at Ashford Town (Middx) on the 28th.

01.29 Yes after midnight,so I must be careful what I say,Went to the Arena tonight to watch Croydon v Molesey, paid my entrance fee of £3.50,because believe it or not I AM AN OLD CODGER,bought a golden goal ticket £1,48 mins I ask you, what chance at this level. On entering the ground met Mick Sullivan and Peter Thomas, who were on a scouting mission for Leatherhead, hope they paid to get in.Manager 50 then informed us of an accident that he and the physio and Players had had on the way to the ground, hope the physio is o.k. by the way.Was informed that the Official on the night would not delay the K.O. for 15 mins, which seemed harsh, but maybe he had a party to go too, later in the Evening.I then proceeded to be a BALL BOY for the Evening, yes a full 90 minutes of running around at my age,CARDIAC ARREST?The game itself was all Molesey first half, with their slick passing football, they scored from a well worked set piece from a corner.Croydon were reduced to 10 men when the number 6 committed a foul, that was neither a booking in my book, when asked by the Croydon skipper why he had been sent off,the Ref would not answer him. However AT H/T i heard the ref say ,IT WAS FOR DISSENT,FOR SAYING NO,NO,NO,to his face,I ASK YOU. Bought a burger and coffee at h/t another £3, not a miser me,like some I know.2nd half saw a more competitive Croydon, maybe Molesey thought that with only 10 men Croydon were there for for the taking, and eased off a bit,but they were mistaken,a mix up by the Molesey keeper and centre half allowed Croydon to equalise,1-1 FINAL SCORE.After the game retreated to the Bar where I was joined by the Molesey Management Team and players, frosty reception I thought but far from it,a nicer bunch you could ot want to meet, even bought me a beer. But the nicest remark that was made, was from a gentleman who I do not think posts on here, was thanking me for bringing the stretcher on at the Moatside, and carrying one of Molesey's players off, thank you kind Sir.smudger is not all bad you see.Well if you love C.C.L. as you say you do,GET DOWN to Fetcham Grove next Tuesday night, and cheer on the MOLES,I WILL BE THERE,HOPE MICK SULLIVAN LEAVES ME A COMP,AS HE MAYBE PARKING IN THE ROAD AT WHYTELEAFE.SMUDGE RULES O.K.

Morning Smudge - can't blame Worcester Park for denying "another decent side promotion" - that side clearly aren't decent enough if they don't make the top 3. Unless an EGM is called it's now too late for Clubs to propose rule changes for next season: Even if they did, the FA would still need to approve them

20 ALTERATIONS TO RULES

No alteration to the Rules shall be made until they have been approved by The FA. Alterations to Rules shall only be made by special resolution passed at a general meeting of the Company in accordance with article 26 of the Articles of Association of the Company.

Proposals for alterations to Rules, together with the name of their proposers and seconders, shall be received by the Company Secretary not later than 31st January prior to the date fixed for the annual general meeting of the Company in each year or not later than eight weeks before the holding of an extraordinary general meeting called for the purpose of amending the Rules.

Agree with u smudge if other clubs are improving their ground or having to groundshare then wp should do something as they can't progress and there's no point just waiting for the inevitable in a couple of seasons

Just a point of interest, I don't remember every-one kicking up a stink when Staines Lammas kept finishing in the top 3, or when Knaphill grabbed 3rd last season (admittedly from Staines Lammas, so no change there). Until all clubs are lit then this will keep coming around again (Carly Simon reference there). The trouble is the clubs who shout loudest tend to be the ones who are struggling to get or will not get lights. We have to live in the real world here, you cannot blame the League for doing there job, constrained as they are by FA regulation which, whether you like it or not, is here to stay.

I have attended many CCL meeting either as part of the floor or in full Committee meetings when I was a club rep. The League do a sterling job caught between the FA and the SOME clubs who attack them for every decision they make, always make them out to be spending money for their own benefit or making the clubs lives more difficult than they are. The League balance the books every year witha small profit or small loss. They don't take most of the expenses they are entitled to, they keep costs down as much as they can within the guidlines set by the FA.

Like every-one in these times, we all must live within our means and unfortunately this could mean that clubs can and will fold, or drop out of senior football. Sad, yes; but sentiment will not light the pitches or pay the rent or get some new kit. I am very proud of our League and if we want the CCL to grow and prosper then we must all pull together and not moan and whine all the time!

I thank you (Arther Askey style)

PS Can't get off the italics today!!

GILESY & SMUDGYBOY, WHILST I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS, THERE'S ONE WAY OF GETTING PROMOTION IS TO BE HIGHER THAN WP ITS THAT SIMPLE

AS STATED BEFORE, I DO SYMPATHAISE WITH TEAMS THAT HAVE WORKED HARD OFF THE PITCH TO GET THE GROUND GRADING, ONE MUST THEN ASK THE PLAYERS TO DO THE SAME AND GET THE CLUB IN A PROMOTION PLACE.

EVERY CLUB KNEW AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON THAT WP CANNOT GET PROMOTED AND THAT WP ARE A STRONG TEAM, NOW THATS NOT THEIR FAULT, ITS UPTO OTHER CLUBS TO BE BETTER THAN THEM, THEN THIS CONVERSATION WOULD NOT HAVE ARISEN.

BUT THE MATTER HAS BEEN ADDRESSED ALTHO' NOT AS QUICK AS ONE WOULD LIKE.

Vale 1-3 Valley

Got to say, I was pleased with the result last night, but as TF says, was an ok game (sadly I have seen us play much much worse than that).

Thought the 3rd goal was a decent strike - but has to be said there was some fairly awful defending at times from both sides.

Ref was a bit "in your face" - particularly when he called one of our players back on after treatment - ran over to the sideline, blew whistle in his face a few times (player had gone off with head injury, so might have been checking he could hear grin.gif), then let him on.

For me it was good to go back to an old stomping ground and catch up with some old mates - always liked it at the Vale - DB, Steve, Nigel are all good football people and i know from my time there they work tirelessly for the club

Arguments from all sides regarding promotion from my point of view. The teams who entered ground shares at the beginning of the season all thought they were good enough to go up - staines, warlingham, and farleigh. They didnt have to enter ground share agreements to stay in league so promotion was the aim. Teams who have lit up this season- South park, bedfont sports and knaphill have cemented their future in the CCL by doing so and also have one eye on promotion for this or future seasons. There is still no fixed date as far as i am aware for what season the league require every club to be lit up in divison 1 and if that is the case and teams like w.park are happy not to progress why would you throw thousands at a ground share. I also think im right in saying that for the league to keep its step 6 status for division 1 there must be a minimum of teams in that division that reach a certain criteria. Until there are fixed dates and rules are in place about being lit up clubs must make the decision to either vote in a change to the rules or like myself if you are gonna give it the biggun make sure your team is good enough to get promoted as we all know at the beginning of the season what teams will be competing for the title.

SMUDGYBOY & MANAGER50, SURPRISE RESULT I HAVE TO SAY.

SEEMS FROM THE ABOVE THAT MOLESEY THOUGHT THEY HAD THE GAME IN THEIR POCKET, BUT ALWAYS REALISE THAT TEAMS WITH SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR (IE) AVOID RELEGATION AS OPPOSED TO A TEAM WITH NOTHING TO PLAY FOR AND CERTAINLY THE PLAYERS LOOKING NOT TO GET INJURED FOR THEIR SEMI FINAL, MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT IN THE SECOND HALF PERFORMANCES FROM BOTH TEAMS. I WASN'T THERE BUT READING BETWEEM THE LINES FROM SMUDGYS REPORT ABOVE THATS HOW I READ IT. BUT FOR A DEFENSIVE MIX-UP MOLESEY WOULD HAVE COME AWAY VICTORIOUS.....ALWAYS REMEBER ITS NEVER OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS !

I SHALL BE THERE SUPPORTING CCL'S MOLESEY.............SORRY MR. SULLIVAN YOU HAVE ENOUGH SUPPORTERS ANYWAY .......LOL !!!

OBVIOUSLY, I HAVEN'T SEEN LEATHERHEAD THIS SEASON SO HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE SOME GOOD FOOTBALL ON THE EVENING, SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT........ LETS HOPE THAT OTHER POSTERS/FORUMITES GO TO SUPPORT YOUR LAST CCL CLUB IN THIS TOURNAMENT ???

Hi Tucks, at the CCL meeting with Guernsey it was put forward that the league are allowing a further two seasons for all clubs to attain Grade G. At the end of 12/13 the League will have to look to their member clubs and decide what to do the clubs that haven't made the grade. I also understand that any new clubs bought in next season will also have two years to get up to scratch. After 2011/12, the standard one year rule will be implimented for all CCL clubs, don't make the grade down you go!

I don't know if the negativity towards Worcester Park is justified. It appears they can't do the ground up and can't afford a groundshare so what are they to do?

There was an interesting post on NLM from a groundhopper who went to WP v CB Hounslow a couple of weeks ago:-

The club appears to be a happy place which is just as well as they are facing challenges on several fronts. Despite the possibility of finishing in a promotion position, they can't go up as they haven't got lights or seating. Worcester Park Athletic Club, which exercises a strong influence on most of the decision making processes here, are not amenable to major ground improvements at present and groundsharing is probably not financially viable. The recent game staged at Carshalton Athletic proved a costly affair and a longer term arrangement somewhere doesn't appear likely. So, the status quo will remain for the time being unless people walk away from the club. President Reg Wilkes, with whom I had a very pleasant and illuminating chat, couldn't rule that out although the fact that it is such a friendly place and the players are apparently content here makes it less likely. No one connected with the football club would want to see Worcester Park playing at a lower level, but it was clear to me that making ends meet financially is a continuingly difficult task.
