I just love the irony of Enrico criticising anyones playing/managing career. The facts speak louder then any words. cheesy%20(2).gif

I believe that last time there was an ESL reserve league the Hullbridge side, managed by Bowers coach Gary Morris, won the Reserve league cup. To this day that is the only piece of silverware in the Hullbridge cabinet making Gary Morris the most successful senior manager of a Hullbridge Sports side. He will go down in Hullbridge folklore for his achievements on the pitch, not in the kitchen. Just saying.

Coachie, heard this new ressie league wont even have assistant refs, so you are relying on bias club officials, ref may as well do it on he's own. I bet the ref's think club linesmans are more trouble than they are worth.

Let's be honest, the ESL is not a great level or standard of football. Most players with a decent bit of ability will be playing Ryman Football.

But what it does have is a lot of fit, commuted players, and anyone who can stay fit, motivated and competitive every Saturday and Tuesday is an assest itself.

But having been an average player in the ESL for probably the last 10 years I havnt played against many great players.

I have probably been mugged off by loads of players who are faster, fitter, stronger and have more desire to win than me, but have played against very few quality players.

Yes the likes if your hornchurchs, Concords and Brentwoods had some very good players but they are more of an exception than the rule.

And if I'm honest, I would rather watch an EOL game than an ESL one, and there are probably as many technically as good players in the EOL as the ESL.

That doesn't mean they will would beat or even compete in the ESL but it depends what you regard as a good player.

When Manor merged, with White Ensign (who had played and beaten a number of good ESL sides) we only kept a handful of players and not because they were not good enough, mainly because they couldn't churn out performances week in week out, Saturday...Tuesday.

In my opinion the top EOL sides could hold there own in the ESL if the players could/wanted to commit. Look at Takelys first season for example.

But at the end if the day it's the bottom run of semi pro football, no need to get carried away, it's relative..!!

got to agree with most of that-simple fact is EOL sides need to put up or shut up,buy a set of lights, pay out thousands on your ground, try to budget for senior football week in week out, then you will see how what happens on the pitch is almost a afterthought.theres a massive difference between running a senior football team and a park side. The Basildon manager probably spends 10% of his time dealing with on the pitch matters and 90% of his time with all the other nonsense.

For the record no Olympian team moaned. It was an ESL manager that bad mouthed the EOL.

Basil-Don, your comment about Doyley's time management are spot on mate. Unfortunately they also beg the question, why does Basildon Utd even exist? No ambition on the field and rely on your manager to sort the pitch out, take money on the gate and be the secretary. Doyley is a good manager and deserves a chance at a decent club.

i wasnt really having a pop at people like boycie and other olympian league managers but it just winds me up when theres olympian league teams who stay in the 'comfort zone' of park football and slag off the ESL be interesting to see a few of them step up to senior football instead of standing on the touchlines carping on about the poor standard of the ESL.

Are you sure about that? You profess to know everything....but actually know nothing.

One day Hullbridge may develop some ambition, when that happens you will have to start a spaghetti forum.

Didn't you put it was the 3rd grandstand on the Witham forum the other day. has one been knicked.?

Re your other question, simple answer to that i dont know how to change a user name... to groundhopper Mark....lol

As the club decided to dispense of the Capital League Reserve team at the end of the season, i stepped down as Reserves Secretary, i was asked to be first team secretary again like i was in the Ryman league by a few people on the committee but to be honest unless we were going to resign from the esl and go to Ridgeons then i wasnt going to accept the offer which i made very clear to all concerned. sorry all esl lovers.:futbolbud2:

You mentioned i was looking for another club, 3 have asked if i would be interested and i have asked for time to think as there is a particular project in non league fooball that i want to get involved with and have got a meeting on Monday, depends how that goes as to what i will do next.

I look forward to seeing your cheeky banner at Witham v Hullbridge on the 23rd. I obviously wont be on the p.a so will able to concentrate on you and your players for 90 mins.dance%20(2).gif
