Curtis Robinson signs new contract

I'd keep Curtis, Ball, Cloake, Groombridge, Bradbrook, Hill(if he can get over injuries) Welford and wait for it Wilson who improved towards the end. Also Miler, young and improving should be given a chance in the squad, By naming these it dos'nt mean they would all play every game but they are good enough to keep in the squad. We need a good bench from which to change things. Now all we need is another six to make selection interesting. I do believe we need a more decisive keeper, who gives the defenders more confidence in him, good wingers and a commanding mid-fielder. Easy, now all that is needed is a manager who can do it all for as little as possible.

I agree with everything you have said here apart from Goalkeeeper. I personally think that Jamie has kept us in many games this season & would definitely be keeping him (no pun intended) in my Ron Manager team.

I would keep curtis, cloke, ball, hill, groombridge, wilson

maybe welford, maybe bradbrook

Then bring langiano and courtney into the team more..

The club want promotion to conference south and ideally promotion to conference again..so we need to look at our current squad, look at their ages, their abilities and think which ones are conference south footballers

Realistically, Conference South is our best aim, I know the attendances are not much better than Ryman Premier - but the costs of sustaining football at full Conference level are phenomenal. It was difficult enough when we were there before, but now there are so many 'Football League' sides to contend with. The League no longer seems viable for a semi-pro side, the travelling distances are too much as well. We would struggle to attract the average 1500+ attendance to break even and would need a Major sponsor, which has always been a problem. As a Conference South team, we would be one of the more attractive teams attendance wise.

Surely if we did go up to Conference South we would be able to attach a better quality of player who can then push us onto the Conference National

As for attendances we would struggle to get the 1500 as down here people need that extra push to get them into the ground. The interest in the club is there as the number of people I know who stop me and ask about the club as a whole not just about the results is quite high and I image I am not the only one seeing this.

So as peter asks -how does the club pay for these'better quality' players ?

My view is you pay out extra just once-for the very best manager (possibly full time)-who has the best coaching skills ,and he/she develops / finds) players from the lower leagues, and moulds them into better players and a team

A bit like how Ian got Marsden

Yep-although not sure IOC had the 'best coaching skills' /man management skills to go with it.

What i am not suggesting is all this 'go mad for youth 'tripe

Simply there are good footballers out there at lower leagues who are hungry and can be coached d/developed into better players/team suitable for ryman prmiership level ;and as Pagey says-Marsden was a case in point.

A lot of league clubs let scholars go without offering contracts and they are looking to get into any football..

Ryman Prem is apparently better than conference south for scouting as the players in conference south are a lot older so scouts a lot of the time do not bother watching those teams

Indeed. The days of pretending the sunday league footballers are good enough for us are surely over. I know they think they are and I know their

mates, fathers and managers pretend they are. But rarely is it the case - as proven by Ramsgate in their relegation year when they went mad for

sunday league players.

The answer is in the word "Club" for me.

As KP said we want a manager who is a winner, yes but with that he has to be a "CLUB manager. He has to manage the CLUB as a whole. Lay down how he wants to progress, get out there with scouts and himself, find young players who have the abillity and the want to succeed. They are out there. Talk to and work with the youth, and the reserve coaching staff. Communicate.

Then we can go forward.

Won,t be CK then, no reserves or youth with him, shame that because when Mark Weatherly had the 18's we they were really good, beat West Ham I think, if they had been developed we may have had a few more locals playing, still thats history
