Stadium Development Project Update

I really do not understand what is happening here. We appear to be going around in circles. I believed, probably naively, that if the council approved the development on the 21st it would be the green light to start. However reading todays statement it appears it will begin the process of public consultation. I thought we had already been through the process the first time it was approved, and before the amendment was applied for. With the 3500+ petition, requested by the council, far outdoing the 500 signature petition, once again we were led to believe that the council would see sense and approve the plans. Could someone please tell us how long the consultation period will be IF the development is approved and what time scale we are looking at to start. I did speak to Cliff at the last home match and he stated that the building would start as soon as possible after the go ahead as the contractors were waiting to start.

It still begs the question..Why not go ahead and build whatever has been agreed.. The contractors must have originally budgeted for it so build the bloody thing, then negotiate using lesser rooms, or not..but what do i know sweet bugger all!!!

It was actually 5,300 signatures for the project so where is that democracy thing here as mentioned by Simon Moores. I see no democracy taking place here whatsoever. It seems we could have acquired the signatures of the whole of Thanet (barring those 555) & yet the Council STILL wouldn't allow us to proceed.

The changes to the Hotel were minimal according to our architect & fell within the criteria for an amendment.Just why the council are trying to find fault to the contrary is beyond me. Well, its not really because it is blatantly obvious to me that the council have absolutely no intention of seeing us prosper, the park to prosper & the town of Margate to prosper.

I'm sorry but i.m.o.they are working overtime & then more overtime to stop us in our tracks & I really don't like this attitude from the council who incidentally are employed by us the tax payer.I do think sometimes that they think they are "God" (no offence God). Surely there must be an arbitrator such as an Ombudsman that could look into this & see fair play.

My other point is about the meeting we had with the fans & KP at the clubhouse that time. We were understood to believe that works were due to start in March. The builders were chomping at the bit to get started.

Now if we had consent to begin the build in March then we must surely have acquired a lease of some sort,of some length otherwise the backers wouldnt allow the build to begin would they?

Now we find ourselves fighting a council that i.m.o. & are hell bent on stopping this project before it begins. Even if there were no changes made I cant imagine the council even then allowing us to proceed..

They have their agenda & it stinks.

One day these councillors will be brought to justice over their continual hindrance to Margate FC & adding to that the same councillors should be brought back from wherever they are at the time to answer to the stupidity of building that Turner thing in the harbour. That project will fail without a shadow of a doubt after an early flourish of activity & interest The majority of Margate had told them so & what did they do? They completely ignored us & ploughed on regardless. More democracy for you l.o.l..

I want to be around to see justice dished out to these decision makers for error upon error upon error..I wont even go into the Dreamland epiosde.Another error on their part.Error upon error upon error!

I will be the first to admit that these planning applications and decisions are beyond me but I commend KP and his team for continuing this when others would have given up months if not years ago, On a positive note remember the plight of Brighton, nearly went out of business, huge problems with their new ground, took years to get the thing moving, and now ? Promotion and next season a brand new state of the art ground. Lets keep the fight going and support our officials and developers and I am certain that this will happen.
