That is on tonights list of things to do. A couple if days in Somerset, a couple of days in Folkestone and an early night last night to get up to travel to an interview this morning has left me somewhat behind with things!

Finally Generation Sports (Margate Sunday League team) played Faversham 1st team last night and drew 0-0

Just got access to a lap top .

It was more than a satisfactory performance on saturday. Considering the length of time it is since the lads had played a competative game (nearly a closed season) their fitness levels were a credit to the coaching staff.

The game kicked off with Erith Town (3 1st teamers playing + 2 on the bench) pressurising our defence. The youngsters, though ring rusty stuck to their jobs and started to compete as the 1/2 went on.

Erith took a lead through a shot that left out of practice keeper Lamprill a little flat footed. Margate went on the offensive, winning a corner on the right. Josh Merry with atrade mark cross placed the ball in a perfect position for Jimmy cole to rise Robinson like and put the ball into the net at the back post. 1-1.

With 15 to go Erith Town broke and a 30yd pile drive hit the back of the net giving the improving Lamprill no chance. 2- 1 into 1/2 time.

We had seen excellent performances from all the youngsters 1st half, 16 year old Martin Austin had a good 1/2, 17 year old Jordan wells( also plays Sunday league for generation) was out standing) Anthony Woodward never stopped working, as did Luke Alexander at right back.

2nd half saw Gate really put on the pressure, causing the Erith Keeper problems, Jordon wells shot over, Dan Hughes, shot over before the hard working Woodward got his reward. A 35 yard drive that hit the back of the net with the keeper stranded.

The game ebbed amd flowed, Gate made changes. Chris Euden on for Jimmy Cole, Jack Smethers on for Josh Merry with Luke Alexander moving to right back to cover the increasingly influential Erith town no 10. Then Chris Afuapi in place of Anthony Woodward who had run himself to a stand still.

Afuapi seemed to enjoy a rare run out, showing excellent skills to skip past the Erith defence on a number of occassions.

My and the players/ management M-O-M was Jordan Wells, a impressive display from the 6' + midfielder, running, Tackling, defending and charging forward. A very Gerrard style performance. One thing that stood out was the fearless way the lad put his head low onto a ball that was connected to a defenders boot.

well done Jordan. (dont let this group of youngsters slip through your fingers Margate).

Faversham 1st team 0 v 0 Generation.

Did not go to the game, reports I hear say the lads played very well. Faversham are very impressed . They said CL is the best raw talent they have seen in years. (don't let this group of talented youngsters slip through your figers Margate)

Thanks for the report.

will Jordan wells make it to the first team bench before end of season then ?

I am sure Jordan would love the experience. Perhaps pre season, work in progress. keep him away from the boo boys for a while longer.
