End of season

Just looking at the remaining fixtures and it's going to be a bit weird in both divisions.

Cherstey's last game is on Easter Monday and Guildford's is the following Saturday, so if they are still neck and neck Chertsey could have to wait to see what happens with Guildford knowing exactly what they need to do.

It's even worse in Div 1, it looks like Bedfont Sports play their last game on Tues 19th April when Farnham and South Park will have 2 remaining games. Worcester Park will still have 4 to play!

Not a criticism of whitelaw who does a great job, but in some Leagues all meaningful fixtures have to be played at the same time so how does it get so bitty at this level? Unless Worcester Park go on to win it, can't see the trophy being presented at a game which is a bit of a shame. When does the trophy get presented if the winner has no games remaining?

I agree that ideally all fixtures should finish on the same day and when the original list was issued back in July, that was indeed the intention, with all Premier games finishing on Easter Monday 25 April. Unfortunately, we had in excess of 200 postponements, and I felt that it was necessary to ease the pressure a little by using the "spare" date of 30 April, to avoid too many Tuesday/Thursday situations and we have managed to get 16 of the 21 in action on that date. I do intend to review this with the clubs in due course though to see if it is a"big" issue and if so, we will rigidly stick to the notion of everyone finishing on the same date in future seasons. Only one club has ever contacted me on this situation though and they changed their viewpoint on it between this season and last.

It is different in Division One, once again because of the floodlight situation. Postponed matches at clubs without lights have to be fitted in at the end of the season, unless I can find an earlier Saturday. For that reason I try to leave a little "slack" in the last month, so that games can be fitted in as and when, and that does lead to something of a lottery in the final weeks fixture wise. I don't think we will be able to do much about that situation until all clubs in Div 1 have lights.

Clubs can help themselves to an extent of course by restricting the number of supplementary cups that they enter.

As far as presenting any trophy is concerned, we do try to present on the day that it is won but that is not always possible. If that can't be done, we alwasy ask the club concerned when they would like to receive it.

Why not put all the last games on the 30th then even if it means a weeks rest for some of them?????

Why not have the Winners of the Premier play the Winners of Div 1,when both are known,in a Charity Match at the end of the Season. This way both Clubs can be presented with their Medals,in front of their own Fans and supporters.Make it a Celebration Day,Music,Barbeque,Beer.a day to remember.

NO,why have a Cup,nothing worse than playing all season, winning something, and not having a Celebration.Where the supporters, yes the bread and butter of the Non League Game, cannot be part of it as well.Even the Committee Members deserve a day out, after the hard work they put in all season.Winners:- CHARITY,C.C.L.,REFS,CLUBS,FANS,What football should all be about,Togetherness!!!!!!!!!!!!!
