UPDATE on Craig

I saw Craig yesterday and he is still in hospital. He was put in plaster on Sat and that looks like a mistake that worked in his favour as it found the main problem that was a 'compartment syndrome' wound in his leg. He has had two operations so far and they thankfully closed the wound yesterday with a massive amount of stiches. The positive news is that the achillies doesnt look as bad as was first thought and that the other injury masked the extent of the damage. He is waiting on the specialist but hopes to be allowed home tomorrow.

He does have internet access in hospital and is grateful for the nice comments made on this website and the best wishes sent by the League

CHERTSEYTOWN, INDEED UPBEAT NEWS ABOUT YOUR 'KEEPER. HOW DID YOU GET ON WITH THE FA AND LEAGUE TO GET AN EMERGENCY KEEPER ? DID THEY GIVE YOU SPECIAL ALLOWANCE TO REPLACE CRAIG ? IF SO, WHO DID YOU SIGN ?

I had compartment syndrome when I broke my leg and needed a skin graft to close the wound. Fortunately for Craig it sounds like he did not need skin grafts.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

What about JT...........

IF afc let him play, then that is poor management. and i dont think brownie is going to put a season at risk. coffee%20%282%29.gif

Personally, I know JT, and he will not sign, as rumour has it next week is due to play Mansfield in the BSP. Not sure he or the club would risk their second choice go at this time of the season....

Best wishes to Craig, I hope you make a full and speedy recovery. However i am disgusted with the league allowing Chertsey to sign a keeper. This is yet another example of the CCL 'bending the rule' to suit, and If i were Guilford I'd be protesting all the way to the top !!! I've got no interest whatsoever in who wins the league so this is not a pop at Chertsey, but at the league. The rules are there for a reason, they have had all season to sign a back up keeper and certainly if i were managing I like to think I cover all angles and would certainly have signed a keeper, even just a promising young un, before deadline day. it was an oversight on their part and a mistake that the league in their infinite wisdom are allowing them to circumnavigate !!!!

So which part of the rule has been bent then Spy?

6.5 CLOSING DATE FOR REGISTRATIONS

After 5pm on the 31st March each season, registrations and transfer of registrations will be declined or will be approved subject to such limitations and restrictions as the Board may determine and, if so determined, the player shall only be eligible to play in the matches for which permission is granted by the Board.

The part highlighted is to cover emergency situations and if this isn't one, what would you suggest is ??

GF, they've had all season long to sign a back up keeper. This allowance is meant to be for dire circumstances which were unavoidable, ie losing both keepers to injury, it was THEIR CHOICE not to have a back up, this is not the reason this 'clause' was meant to be used for, basically they have f***ed up and are now being 'bailed out' by this clause.

My point is Spy that no one is bending or circumnavigating the rules - they are just being applied to cover an emergency situation. How that situation was arrived at and whether it could have been avoided is questionable, but in my view the League have correctly applied the rule.
