QUESTION TO THE REFS

Recommended Posts

Have seen 2 games on tv. with both teams, wearing the same colour shorts. now i have seen some daft calls, by refs at our level. this included keeper having to change shorts. are same colour shorts permited.coffee%20%282%29.gif

The two teams (and goalkeepers...) must wear colours that distinguish each other. So to a degree this is down to the ref. E.g. I wouldn't be happy if a team had the same colour socks and shorts, even if their shirts were very different colours. Think of those tight calls on the touchline with whose leg did it come off last?

This question again highlights the 'one law for us & another for them' issue. The classic case in the professional game is players wearing black kit, hence match officials looking more like fashion statements. Competition &/or County regulations at our level (step 5 & below) dictate that match officials wear traditional black kit, therefore players cannot. As already said, opposing players (including goalkeepers) must be clearly distinguished from each other. And refers to shirts, shorts & socks. End of!

I hate it when as a referee I was told "But they do it in the Premiership"

My answer was always "Does that make it right then ?"

I always wonder how Ricardo Fuller at Stoke always seems to be wearing bling in his left ear - but then he probably uses a stack of tenners down his socks for shinpads as well

Correct Krooner that's exactly what I was told on the refs course in January.

They are almost told to officiate in a different way as well

An old one, I know, but.........................

SCENARIO AT OLD TRAFFORD.

Spectator to 2nd Asst Referee. "How long to go, lino ??"

2nd Asst Referee. "Dunno Mate ! Sir Alex hasn't decided yet !!"

Ignore what happens in the Premiership as that is nothing to do with normal football.

IF that is the way that the fa see things. then goal line technology should be brought in, even doing away with refs, and monitor a game by cctv. as everygame in the prem, we are told has over 20 cameras.
