Southend Manor drew 1-1 away at Enfield and missed several opportunities to grab a deserved three points today, Enfield must have thought the league title was all but over however I hear Stansted lost to Hullbridge. Both sides seem to be doing their best to throw away the title over the recent month or so.

 

Enfield 1 Southend Manor 1

 

Barking 1 Barkingside 0

 

Also heard Witham won and Bethnal Green drew?!?!

I see Barkingside had their 13th straight defeat today, equaling Stansted's record from 2006/07. What's the betting they break that run at Bowers on Wednesday?

God knows what has happened over there, its a complete farce. Saw on their website that they played a Centre half in goal today - crazy times

Barkingside on a bad run but Bowers form is even worse just one win from 15 now,its really not for me to comment but thats shocking !!!!

 

Yep, been a disappointing campaign. However, Bowers have struggled all season whereas Barkingside had a decent start, with 3 wins and 3 draws in heir first 7 games.

 

i expect both clubs to regroup in the summer and have much better seasons in 2011/12.

good to see that Stansted failed to equal Basildon United's record of unbeaten ESL matches,i owe enrico a drink !!

 

I would suggest you buy their goalie a drink 4 unbelievable saves.

 

Hullbridge probably deserved the win, should have had a penalty, overall they played the better football.

 

Hopefully we can play better this week against BGU and Enfield. ( would love to know why we have had to play s/f this week when they havent)

The defeat yesterday may have done you a big favour in the grand scheme of things, you wont have that tag of when you are going to lose hanging around your necks and will probably push on again.

 

Three reasons i could guess at would be...

 

1. your game v Bgu first leg was played fist last time, then Enfield played the week after you, then it would be you again, then them the next week. or

 

2.BGU & you have a midweek league game next week when Enfield play semi, Southend Manor play Witham this midweek.. Save you all doubling up for the last two weeks.

 

3.To keep all 4 semi final legs in consecutive midweeks so groundhoppers could see all, if they wished?

I watched the Manor yesterday and they were superb. I think that the pressure has got to both sides (Enfield and Stansted) and I dont think its a case of both teams throwing away the title as much as Stansted had to lose sometime and Southend Manor are a very good side and if their start would have been better (they were 3rd bottom up til Sep 25) I think they might be challenging along with the top 2, (Witham have been slightly unlucky losing only to the top 4 sides also).

 

Manor had 2 golden opportunities in the last 5 minutes with their winger blasting over from 5 yards and their young substitute having a one on one saved, at that point Enfield looked drained and when the referee signalled 8 minutes of added time, that actually worked in the favour of Southend! Although I am sure thats the second time this season Southend Manor have had 8 minutes added time to contend with when the scores have been level against one of the 'big teams'!

 

Nevertheless Enfield were honest and hard working but Manor defended superbly and with Stansted losing, I might be binning watching Manor next week to watch Enfield vs Stansted, what a game that will be!

 

Did Stansted get some points deducted yesterday?

The centre half -Joe Ellul- had no chance with our goal- a Bobby Port shot in best Geoff Hurst tradition and made a fantastic triple save in the second half.
