Town 1 Aveley 0

Three points in the bag is all that count's really.

I thought some of the ref's call's were poor but we gained out of one or two of those dodgy call's so all square as far as I'm concerned.

There Number 5 was lucky not to get a red when he sat on one of our players head (couldn't see his face)

Shame the numbers are still so low at this stage of the season, But looking at yesterdays results it seems to be a similar story elsewhere.

And on to Monday. ------------->

Both sets of players found it difficult to control the ball on the hard surface. It's incredible to think that about three or four weeks ago we were just perma-soaked. I agree that the game wasn't helped by another official who was overly whistle and card happy.

Personally I thought we tried to play some football second half whereas Aveley offered virtually nothing all game.

At this stage, there's only one thing that counts and that's the result. Unfortunately, the other results went against us but all we can do is keep plugging away. Wealdstone have nothing to play for and we have had some success there in the past, so hopefully we can get a result there next week to keep us in it.

MoTM for me today was Micah Hyde by a mile who was one of the few that had the ability to deal with the surface.

Roll on Monday. I'll take another 1-0 all day long. Come on you Blues!!

We do make things difficult for ourselves, and with a bit more composure and belief on the ball, then we'll wallop this lot on Monday. Whilst it wasn't a pretty game, at this stage of the season it's the 3 points that count. We have 4 league games to go and we are right in the mix, I personally wouldn't have given us a prayer after the C***** game. So to turn it around and give ourselves a shot at the play-offs is major achievement. It's know secret that our support has suffered a partial collapse, but with 4 league games to go, you can only encourage as many people as possible to get behind them. It's not always about the quality of football, it's about backing our club to get out of this poxy league. Monday is massive, we haven't won a senior peice of silverware since 1980. Then next saturday at Wealdstone is MA-HOOSIVE. The challenge is to get every man, woman and child who gives two-hoots, to get to both games. It would be nice to get back to the days of decent away support again.

There appears to be a concern over a lack of quality against gaining three points...Personally, I'll take the three points but I didn't think the game was as bad as to call it dross...

...but hey, whatever the team does, it can never please everyone...

I take on board other comments about the state of the pitch, the opposition and the referee ( he was poor, but 100% better than the one we had a fortnight ago). I also agree about 3 points being the priority and there was certainly no lack of effort by our team. However, with only one notable shot on target from both teams, I feel dross is a fair description of yesterday's game

On the positive side, I believe our back four and goalkeeping this season has been up there with the best in the league. I am sure that we would have conceded even fewer goals if our midfield/ attacking players could have held the ball up more often and not conceded pocession too readily. But hey, we are in a better position than last season ...
