Hi Steve, how far away do you think Egham were of seriously challenging for the title if you had stayed on? I did not see you play this season.

Hi Ellers,

Challenging for the tilte was not an option but i felt confident that we would finish in the top 6.

We lost to many key players this year through circumstances that were out of our control and it

hit us hard and meant that we could not beat anyone in the top 6.

However we had just made a few new signings and had won 2 out of the last 3 so things were on the up.

With the players that we had spoken to for next season and a couple of key players back from long term injury

i felt we had a chance next season.

Alas this might now be with someone else i hope !

Cheers

Steve

I have not ruled out the possibility of us losing the next five, given the performances of the last five. In NO way am I belittling Badshot Lea; the first half at Godalming was a horror show that perhaps triggered tthe whole Baker sacking thing. It was felt by some that Steve had let Wayne Noad go and he left on or just before that game. That aside, BL were bloody good and if Smudge has inadvertently slightly misled me as to the strength of their playing squad then forgive me. I predict a shake-up!

Good game, Good officials, Lovely sun, Time for a snooze

I fully appreciate your point of view and I heartily concur as regards the weather, but the game was, in my honest opinion, dire. We lacked fans (we do anyway, but the three other diehards were unable to come) and players. We had on the bench just Paul Bennett, of the controlling Bennet clan, and, lovely fella though he is, even he will admit he is a bit player now for a Sunday pub side. No Pearcey on the sidelines with Colin Bartholomew and John Hamsher, and no Matt Grave, Tom Bentley, Tom Martin, Reon Thomas, Chris Hibbs or, providing he is still with the club after his only appearance, James Frayn. Where were they all? This game has been on our schedule all season.

A magnificent save by Justin Gray prevented the Trams taking a 16th minute lead but a well worked goal gave the home side a lead they deserved because they were presenting more of a threat than Brendan Matthews and John Pomroy did throughout the whole game. The home side , with six losses on the bounce, thus inflicted on Egham their fifth successive pointless sortie. We were total dog poo against a side who fought harder, ran harder, looked more cohesive throughout and yet still looked like what they are, a side second from bottom. I hope this does not sound like I am denigrating The Trams; they are second from bottom because they are, by definition, crap, so by extension of that definition, we were even more crap. We cannot blame either the pitch or the referee, because both were excellent. Despite this the only guy involved with Egham Town, other than me, who has actually seen us win things (Southern Combination Cup sometime in the mid 70s) still believes that sacking Steve Baker is the key to a bright new dawn. When he was sacked I said to my hubby that I seriously doubted that we would pick up another 6 or 7 points before the end of the season. We have, in two weeks, our final away game, against Epsom & Ewell, and face at home, Sandhurst Town (Tuesday), Molesey next Saturday, Chertsey Town on Bank Holiday Monday, and end the season with Badshot Lea. Given that Smudge told me today that B Lea have lost players (which their loss at Dorking today may bear out) we may end with not-a-defeat, but as for the others, I have huge doubts. A fellow Eghamite, another lucky enough to miss today's horror show, says to mark us up as relegation candidates next season. I don't think we will be that bad, and Mr Hamsher may be biding his time before waving his magic wallet, sorry, wand and we crush beneath our boots all those having the temerity to defy the mighty Egham machine. At the moment we need a mechanic to get the spanner out of the works.

It was nice to meet Smudge, and hopefully I will be able to see a different slant to his postings. Good luck to him and to Croydon. If you have any spare can we have it, please?

Smudge,

Just wondering which players (Liam Stone apart) have Badshot Lea "Lost" or are you referring to our crippling injury list?

And TS dont be too sure of not ending up on the wrong side of a result against Badshot Lea just like the 3-0 we gave you a few months ago! ;)

And although im out injured at the mo and despite some players possibly having slight symptoms of NICE GUY syndrome :97:

As awful (and we were embarassingly sh*t) as we were, Dorking were easily the better side second half on Saturday from what i saw from the sidelines so i wouldnt let the result or their current league position fool you that much as their recent last few results against higher placed teams would show.

I'm pretty sure though with the Aldershot Cup semi final on the horizon and hopefully a higher placed finish than last season should see us start playing a little bit more like I and others know we can. coffee%20(2).gif

THANKS TINY, SO HOW ''BAD'' ARE THESE INJURIES ??? .......NICE GUY SYMPTOMS ARE NOT JUST AT BADSHOT LEA BELIEVE ME ITS ALL OVER THE UK BUT FOR SOME REASON ''SOME'' PLAYERS ARE NOT HONEST ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT ............. SO 'COS THERE IS SOMETHING (A CUP SEMI-FINAL) TO PLAY FOR, I JUST WONDER IF THOSE INJURIES MIRACULOUSLY HEAL UP BEFORE THE ''CUP'' GAME THATS COMING UP..............BUT I KNOW NOTHING............

Hi Tempestward,

This Wayne Noad isuue still drives me fecking mad.

I bought Wayne to the club and made him skipper. Last season he was excellent and played a big part in our season (on and off the field)

This season his behavior in pre season was unacceptable at times and after his performance at Pagham away he left me with no option but

to take the captaincy of him. However i assured him that he was still a big part of our future.

He had played every game but the day before the Badshot Lea game he text me saying he was retiring !

I called him and tried to talk him out of it but he was adamant that he did not want to play anymore.

When i told the Chairman he was not happy and wanted me to "beg" Wayne to come back.

This is something i would never do. The Chairman reacted as if it was my fault but at no point thought Wayne had done anything wrong.

One week later the club secretary released Wayne without my knowledge and he was free to play against us on the Saturday !

I reacted very strongly to this and i believe my future was probably decicided at this point (results depending)

After this Matt Graves decided he could not live without Wayne (again) and decided not to turn up again, without any phone call or communication.

He still hasn't replied to my call to this day.

Both players were playing every week and were not badly paid either. I still cannot understand why they left in this manner !

In my time time at Egham i made mistakes and made wrong decisions as every manager does but i always gave it 100% and was honest

with every player (sometimes maybe to much !)

My main issue is that to many people twist the truth to suit their decisions and opinions rather than deal with facts !

Those who matter know the truth !

Some great comedy lines there (baker and dough, fecking genius, did you work on the two Ronnies ? )

You seem quite touchy on Horley subject though, quite defensive !

I am quite touched that you fely sorry for me !

In future if you find my posts boring then quite simple "dont read them"

I regards to class i think every on here would agree thats one thing you clearly dont have and why would i reply to someone who felt it ok to mock the fact that i had lost my job on this forum ?

When we do meet up i wont need to give it the big one as i am sure you will back down and apologise like you do on here quite often.

Now jog on and crawl back into your hole and dont bother my with your poor banter !

TINY do the players feel as though they have under achieved.

To be fair TF i cant talk for all the players but IMO its a bit six of one and half a dozen of the other.

On one hand we will finish higher than the 10th placed finish of last season (with any luck) so i guess that can be viewed as progress i guess but in looking back at this season we should have done better as we occupied 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the table and were going very well and then it went from always winning and having the expecting to win every game mentality to having to show a bit of charachter & some b*llocks when things arent going your way for whatever reason and it didnt always go like that.

There are quite a few factors that have contributed to our season not going as well as it could have (some avoidable and some not) but i guess it is the same at all clubs and hopefully lessons will be learned for next year and if we keep the majority of the squad together with a few quality addidtions

what with our long term injuries back and our 4k a week playing budget :97: we will have another crack at the league next year.:applaus:

Boring boring boring..............................................................................................

Yet again you show your class you complete [****!!****]!

Is it Padlock or is it Matt who is at Three Bridges. (mobile number to follow)

No wonder Horley got rid of you

You give it large every time and then send me a grovling personel meesage trying to be my mate.

Just like you back tracked when Ali put you right.

Your a first class pr*ck mate

Your time will come and a lot sooner than you think.

See you Saturday Big Boy !

Right for once and for all let's get this straight. I left Horley on my own accord and got approached straight away. Not sacked and doing nothing now like you. The grovelling messages were in fact an olive branch as I felt sorry for you and you showed your class by not replying. I maybe at Three Bridges but you my friend should join Three Cooks as I hear they are looking for a new Baker and also they have lots of dough. Move on and if you come Saturday make sure if you give it the big one you can back it up. Temper ward I really cannot be bothered with you.

All My Love

Yosser

Croydon 1

Egham Town 0

NG,

We have IMO the best CM pairing in the league in and both of them are out for the season with bad injuries which require or required operations (1 of which is our captain) not sure we will see them again this year - also had our best CB missing for the last 2-3 months. Obviously we also lost a good keeper in Liam Stone and that area has been a issue for us all season until Liam signed - we have a lad in now who is doing well though.

Feltham 1-0farnham we were [censored] didn't get out of first gear but fair play feltham

It was hard watching from the stands with this one! Overall a fairly even first half which you guys just shaded possesion, but second half if we'd taken some of our chances before the late winner I don't think you'd have complained at a possible 2 or 3-0 outcome.

All the best to you guys in you quest for the title and promotion.

Match photos are also up, please take a look
