So this information (official by the club) is all wrong then (dated 23rd March 2011). Or have the council now changed their minds AGAIN! Its certainly a BIG turnaround. I await clubs official reply on this & explanation

The item you refer to Cookie is entirely accurate. As the statement explains, it referes to a condition in the planning application NOT the planning itself.

So it does look to me that it will not be considered as a variation and will need full 'planning 'again.

Will the developers and potential operators (hotel group ?) 'hang on in there' if that is the case ?

We read on here before how the hotel footprint was in facxt smaller than the original accepted plan;but is it of concern to the council that IF reported correctly-there are alot fewer community facilities ?

Keep the faith.

Very difficult to keep the faith, the council and its officials seem intent on putting a block on any upgrade for whatever reason, sad to say that Thanet as a whole is a total mess and I fear will never recover despite what all the arty farty people say, not in my lifetime anyway. So I am activly looking to move away from this area, which is a shame because my family has lived here since before father xmas was a boy. There is another life at the other end of the motorways somewhere.

At the risk of stirring up crap from some quarters (none that have posted so far here I hasten to add!) the local authority statement does no more than state their previous public position about the application for an amendment to the original plans. In fairness to them, they can't really say any different until the revised plans have been subject to due process which is still ongoing. I'm not currently aware of any new issues so people just need to sit tight. (Not that there's much else to do in reality!) Neither does this change the opportunity to put the case for the development to full council on 21st.

Maybe the Council suddenly realised that they had not official announced their positon...........or just some over zealous councillor with his own agenda who thinks he is more important than he really is and us lesser motals who vote for he and who he should represent are just mere plebs in his eyes

Just read the TDC press release, they seem to have a 14 day time lapse between events happening and issuing a press release. Very very strange and really not notable enough to warrant a press release considering all the other happenings in the TDC world at the moment. WHY? Surely every press release now should be TURNER TURNER TURNER.

Having dealt with local authority communications departments, I would guess that a councillor or councillors has asked the press office to stick this out to mollify constituents who have been giving them grief.

That just says the club have made an application for an amendment. It doesn't say the amendment has been agreed.

It seems, having perused through both paragraphs again that indeed the club HAVE made an application. In turn the Council have accepted the application.

It also says they have APPROVED it though & that bit had me thinking the amendment had been approved & that meant we could push on more quickly than having to go through a new full planning application.Surely though all applications for whatever should be accepted. They don't all have to be approved do they?

Paragraph 2 I can ignore then I take it as surely with the application already made by the club to the council it would have would already have included "amended" details.

Sorry, but it seems I have been somewhat confused by this statement & probably still am I suppose though at first I thought it was straightforward but I accept I may have misunderstood it & my elation therefore was premature in that case

Bottom line I take it therefore is that an amendment HASN'T been granted & that the council are still hell bent on having this go through the full works all over again DESPITE our architect confirming that the amended building works do not change or alter anything that warrants a further full application process.

We still have the lease to get & this is,if I'm not mistaken, going to be a lot harder to get. This is more the problem than anything is it not.Without a long lease it dosent matter what we change or don't change does it?
