Surely the next step before the A.G.M. is for a Team to visit Guernsey to play a Match. So that if there are any pitfalls, they can be ironed out before the start of next season.I am sure Guernsey F.C. would be compliant with this Request,as they have everythig to gain by doing so.Ideally by the Team furthest away from Gatwick, they could Park at Horley and be ferried to Gatwick by them,as they have offered to do this. They could then report back to the C.C.L. regarding time taken from A TO B which would give other Clubs an idea of how long they must allow. They could also report on the Quality of the Hotel,Food Prices etc.and any potential pitfalls they could see emerging. Also they could report as to any extra cost the Club had incurred, over and above the normal MATCH DAY expenses. What do you think.?

Good idea I think smudgy. Also what is going to happen for midweek matches in league and cup and things. Also what if game gets called off due to weather and the team has already got there they will have to do it again.

maybe its time for Young Veteran to do his thing and get a Fans Focus X1 (undefeated) out there once the season is complete??

What a great idea JJ my guess is that we will probably be inundated with players for this one so getting a team wouldn't be a problem, what do you think Weebs shall we get the ball rolling ? Lets call on YV (funny i can hear the theme from thunderbirds )to set the wheels in motion.

My idea for what it's worth would be for the Combined Counties League to send a representative squad of players drawn from both the premier and division 1, this way the League could see both the cost and also the logistics of any club travelling to Guernsey. It would also give Guernsey FC a taste of what to expect when they enter the CCL.

Both the Guernsey FA and indeed many clubs have extensive experience in hosting visiting teams in both County Cups and also a in the FA Vase.

The true Guernsey spirit will shine through and guests to our island can be confident that a warm welcome and as equally important a well organised and run visit to teams will be assured.

I am a little disappointed by some of the negative comments I have read here and elsewhere and there seems in places an idea that this will be just a a free for all. The amount of work that has gone into this plan is immense. I don't think it should be seen as a jolly to the island, but should be seen as a luxury that UK teams will get for free.

Please note that I have no affiliation or involvement in Guernsey FC or Guernsey FA. I do have extensive experience in how Guernsey football is run from personal experience.

But I will try and answer any questions posed. If this is in the wrong part of the forum please let me know.

We have also had the recession here too, as I know only too well!

Night life is very good with some good pubs and clubs in Town (St. Peter Port). The cost of living is more expensive, but there is no VAT....We have a number of UK shop chains, Waitrose have just opened one large shop and open another tomorrow.

Crime is also relatively low, so please keep all your criminals in the UK! :)

This is a massive move for Guernsey Football, that there is no doubt. But the people running the show are top drawer and will make sure this succeeds, if and when accepted.

Talk of £750,000 pa sponsorship is total crap, nobody would pay that. League clubs do not get anything near that!

Players will not be paid, I would not be at all surprised if they are asked to help financially, i.e. they will need to do some fund-raising.

I think some UK people have the perception that we are all rich. That simply is not true, yes there are some very rich people lving here but the man in the street struggles to pay his bills like everyone else.

Shopping in St Peter Port. Arr, sweet memories.

Walk up through Candy Gardens, then along St Jaques Road to my cousins.

Hi Guernsey

So this cannot work !

The whole thing / ldea is money based.

Travel [ our + your travel ]

Players [ time + time off some have young familys ]

Expense's [ Ref + ass Refs ]

Postphonements

Cup Replays

Factor all these costs in, who is going to pay ? CLUBS ?

Actually I think it can work. Obviously as there is that strip of water between guernsey and the uk money is crucial.

Players have been consulted and fully back the idea, supporters I have spoken to back the idea, clubs back the idea, the media back the idea, local business back the idea.I do not see what the UK based teams have to lose! Most of your points I belive have been covered at the meetings, which I was of course not at.

Hi Guernsey, welcome to the bearpit! On the whole the clubs in the CCL back the idea, I WAS at the meeting on Monday, and the main point is that for the UK clubs it is a once a year trip. The cups may be different and a more contentious point, but overall I do not believe it will harm the current member clubs. The league will not allow that to happen, despite what a lot of the posters on here believe, the officers of the league take their responsibilities very seriously. I say ' Welcome to the CCL'.
