Daventry v Slough

Recommended Posts

Great result, but still have a job to do:

- Northwood: Changed manager brought in 7-8 new players, including Rob Ursell and a new manager)

- Arlesey: Title challenging, spanked us with 10 men at home

- Leighton: Still hopeful of that last play-off spot

- Ashford: Tricky team, can be brilliant or aful by all accounts, unknown quantity

- Biggleswade: In the play-offs and will want revenge for the spanking we gave them at their place

- Beaconsfield: Local derby and could need the points to stay-up

Don't get me wrong, were capable of winning all these games but still got a job to do and should not be frightened of anyone, and as I said great result tonight but not there yet. Lets concentrate on the job in hand.

Makes you wonder had we not dropped silly points between mid October to mid November where we could have been in the table mind?

superb rebels!! well done guys!! must admit i was hopeful we could get at least a point vs Daventry and/or Arlesley but 3 points is arguably a bonus although we can be a great side. MUST MUST make sure we beat Northwood who on paper is a "lesser" game which could be taken for granted

Just a shame I couldn't be there to see it.

Hitchin dumped off the top of the league by Arlesey tonight, who won at SYCOB. They must have been bracing themselves for that for a while. The four-horse race for the title will certainly be interesting (I wouldn't count Biggleswade out just yet). As Chris says, we're only 4 wins off the top ourselves, so it does make you wonder a little. But fifth place is ours to lose now - tonight was an immense result but we can't lose focus.

But fifth place is ours to lose now

You're the second person on this board to say that - I wish people wouldn't!

It's not ours until the final whistle on the final day of the season (and it might not be even then)! Given our inconsistency this season, I wouldn't take anything for granted just yet!

It's a fact though - it's in our hands and as things stand we're not dependent on others dropping points. But it means that all of the remaining games are just as vital as tonight's and it's not secured until it's secured.

Brilliant game, I would give all 11 players MOM they were fantastic, well done lads really enjoyed the game.

Daventry have a lovely club and the people I spoke to were really nice, they even have a little food place in the club house with proper food, Warren you would love it!

I do think their supporters should come down from their Ivory Tower above the club house though, really strange, suppose they get a good view but didnt know they were there really, apart from one guy who kept telling the linesman to put his flag up, but all in all a great night.

P.S Sam Bateman, dont worry only a few of us saw you go in the ladies by mistake last night after the game, but dont worry we wont tell a soul.

Just as a matter of interest to me,could anyone tell me what position Adam Logie played last night as I'm assuming Byrne and Coyne were the centre midfield duo,or did Logie play in the centre with Paul Coyne and so Sean Byrne was on the left wing?

Not a must win game, but I can see us getting a useful point tonight, and helping out of form Hitchin out , what do others think?

Coyne and Logie played centre and Sincs and Byrne played wide although we didn't really attack down the wings much. Most of our chances came from clever through balls either through or over the Daventry back four for Sean and Danny to run onto.
