Farnborough North End?

Recommended Posts

heard a rumour that has probably been mentioned on here before that old farnbronians were looking into taking on the cody ground next season any truth?

Loads of rumours regarding who's gonna be at the Cody next season. The latest team to be mentioned is Woking Reserves. Hayes & Yeading are groundsharing at Woking next season. Woking have approached a few local clubs with a view to hosting their reserve games but they've had no luck so are looking at the Cody as a possibility.

All just internet rumours though......

Hayes & Yeading at Woking, that's some travel for home fans! Very odd combo there!

They've got little choice as they're between grounds for next season. Church Road is being developed and Beaconsfield Road isn't ready for them to play at yet.

If they get relegated then sharing at Staines is an option but if they stay up they have to play at an 'A' graded ground and Staines is only a 'B'.

weren't baggy lea interested in cody as well?

The trouble with the ground is that is hasn't got a stand so hasn't got the grading for the Premier Division, or even Division 1 for that matter although I suspect the CCL would still allow a div 1 team to play there for the next two or three seasons. Whether they'd let a Premier Division club play there or not is another matter.

From a personal point of view, another problem is that it's a civil service club and they're not the most welcoming when it comes to accepting 'strangers' in the bar. There were many tales from groundhoppers who've been there and found the bar shut on match days as they would refuse to open it. When I've been there I've heard 'discussions' over whether punters off the street should be allowed in or not. Most football clubs are members clubs but, by paying an entry fee, people become honorary members for the day. The people running the Cody don't like this which is a shame cos they do some bloody fine beers there.

I'm entitled to join because the idiots in the civil service think Royal Mail is a government department but as the old saying goes - I don't want to be a member of any club that'll accept people like me as a member.
