Margate v Harrow updates

Started well, played quite well in the first half. All of their shots in that first period were right down the keeper's throat and, in truth, they didn't threaten a great deal. But as soon as they scored the first early in the second half, the writing was on the wall. Shockingly bad defending, particularly for the third goal, against a very average team. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Kev.... and take half the team with you, if you don't mind.

Have to disagree wth you Mike as I thought Harrow were a very decent side going forward.Much better than I have seen of them in the past. They have some good players there.Admittedly in defence they looked very frail but we didnt capitalise on that sadly.

The game changed once Hill hobbled off & thats when things went from good to bad. (Yes Rob you were spot on with that observation & I agree)

All their goals came from our left back area. The youngster put in at left back is NOT a left back & was walked all over.Even Robinson got nutmegged for the third from that area although apart from that he was superb. In fact he did so much covering for the full back as well as doing his own job that he must be knackered after that.

Kevin Raine should have seen the error of the replacement left back spot & changed things after their first goal. Courtney might have done better in that spot, possibly.

Why do we stand off players coming at us & allow them to cross the ball with no effort to block or prevent them doing that, or shoot at goal. We should be right up their backsides & closing them down much more than we are doing rather than retreating when they are coming at us head on.

Harrow in the end thoroughly deserved their win in my view & we can have no complaints.

Can't wait for the season to finish, provided we stay up & I think we'll manage that, just......with a little help from our friends of course.

It was always gonna be - the fact that we scored two (one dubious) in the first half might have duped us faithfuls into believing we might pull off a genuine result. However we all know at Margate nothing goes smoothly, the fact is once Hill went off injured we were doomed and unfortunately Josh wasnt upto to the task of left back (not his fault) but with the limited squad we have it was unfortunate. Are we safe.. only time will tell but if and only if we are safe maybe we should use Courtney Robinson cos if nhe is half as good as Curtis then we have a combination that can and will do wonders for us next season :)

How many times have we just thrown points away this season - its so frustrating. The squad has been run down to the bare bones and with injuries and suspensions kicking in things look likely to get even worse between now and May! It is fortunate for us that there are half a dozen teams that have really struggled all season below us. Hastings are one of them and we play there next week so hopeful of a better performance and result but I wont hold my breath. Oh and how many games now since Welford scored?

I'm sure you're an expert on Gary Abbot GA11 and have extensive knowledge of his managerial achievements so for lesser people please tell us why he should be our manager.

hahaha I love some people on this forum

I think you'll find I havent said he should be our manager...

I just heard from a number of people its likely he will be so wondered why we didn't get him in now so he can look at the team, decide who he wants to keep, who he wants to get rid of, etc so then he can have all pre season to get new players and build a team

I don't think there is any rush to get a new manager at the moment. Gary Abbott was a legend at Aldershot and their all time highest goal scorer. However he is another manager with no experience at Ryman premier level or above. Can we afford to take a gamble on another manager with no proven track record at this level? Look at the last few managers we have had and their experience. Apart from Terry Yorath who was probably the opposite with too much experience, but who had little non league experience.
