Don't get too excited Spy - personally I can't see it happening.

Even if 3 teams get promoted, I reckon a maximum 2 will go down, as the Premier Div is a team short. If Worcester Park make a top 3 finish then it's likely only 1 team will get relegated from the Premier. Avoiding the wooden spoon is the name of the game! Then again, if there are any ground-sharing issues (the Ryman League only approved Godalming arrangement with B/Lea for the current season) who knows?

GUILDFORD - PREM

THEN

FARNHAM

WOR PARK

S PARK

ALSO THINK THAT IF WOR PARK FINISH IN TOP 3 THE 4TH TEAM SHOULD BE OFFERED PROMOTION AS IT IS A LONG HARD SEASON AND A TEAM COULD MISS OUT BY A POINT OR EVEN GOAL DIFFERENCE, AND ALSO IE BEDFONT WOULD HAVE PUT IN A LOT OF WORK TO GET THERE GROUND UPTO SCRATCH

PROMOTION & RELEGATION TO & FROM THE PREMIER DIVISION AND CONSTITUTION 2011-2012

Promotion from the Premier Division

The champion club is eligible for promotion, subject to their ground meeting the requirements of Grade E, as determined by the Football Association.

If the champion club is unable or unwilling to be promoted, the second placed club will be considered but they will be up against any other second placed clubs in any other Step 5 leagues whose champions are not being promoted and those with the best playing records (points per game) will fill whatever vacancies there may be. (Please remember that there are more Step 5 leagues than there are promotion places available, so it is conceivable that even a champion club could miss out).

This process is entirely in the hands of the Football Association.

Relegation from the Premier Division

If you finish in the bottom three, you are in a relegation position and should expect to be relegated.

At this moment we have 21 clubs in the Premier Division, so we are one short. The Premier Division constitution for next season, hopefully of 22 clubs, will be populated by:

a. the clubs finishing between 1st and 18th position (less any promoted club)

b. any clubs directed to us by the Football Association: this could be either upon relegation from Step 4 or by transfer from another Step 5 league or (although not specifically anticipated) by promotion of a club from a Step 6 league outside of our normal feeders

c. the three clubs finishing in the top three positions in Division One, subject to the clubs concerned reaching Grade G by 31 March.

If, after all the clubs in the above three categories have been counted, there are less than 22 of them, clubs finishing in the bottom three of the Premier Division will be reprieved, obviously starting from 3rd bottom place, according to the number of vacancies.

At this stage we have no idea as to how many clubs, if any, will be directed to us by the Football Association but clubs seeking promotion from Division One need to be aware that, (for example) were we to have two clubs directed to us with no-one going up, that would give us 23, less 3 to be relegated, leaving 20. Thus, in that situation, there would only be two promotion places available for current Div 1 clubs.

It is hopefully an unlikely scenario, but it is important that you are aware of the possibility.

New Clubs Coming in to Division One

a. Clubs in the following categories must be accepted:

1. Any existing Step 6 clubs directed to us by the Football Association, i.e. any clubs given permission by the FA to transfer from another Step 6 Division

The present situation is that there are some Step 6 clubs who have expressed an interest in transferring into the League next season from other leagues and they have all been referred to the Football Association, via Mike Appleby, the Leagues and Clubs Manager. Their entry or otherwise into the CCL is thus out of our hands, although it would be anticipated that the FA would speak to us before reaching any final decisions.

2. Any club finishing in a promotion position (top two) in a Step 7 feeder league to the CCL, subject to the required facilities.

The entry of any clubs not falling within the above categories will be subject to a vote at the AGM.

No discussion has taken place as yet concerning the likelihood or otherwise of any relegation from Division One at the end of the season.

i understand the rules chris just think that they should review them as i understand if a team finish 4th and are 20 points behind the top 3 then they dont deserve to go up, but if you have been up there all year at the top of the league and are putting in so much hard work effort and money on there grounds then surely they deserve to be given a bit more leniance, but i know other leagues review promotions and act accordingly

The above are not MY rules. Just what we received from the league as a guideline.

I have no axe to grind with any club in this league (for any reason) and what level of football they want to play at (or have to play at because of their facilities and the FA's promotion criteria).

My only concern is that we may have a situation where a club has gradually progressed their facilities to meet the promotion criteria and could be denied by a club who have a good team but cannot go up.

I have a lot of time for the people at Worcester Park FC and I know they are banging their heads as to resolve the issue of lights at Green Lane.

I hope they find a solution because they regularly prove that they could compete in the higher division.

Whether they would Leave Green lane is another matter!

Having said all that, we all know the sp at the start of the season and Bedfont, Farnham and South Park will be aware of the situation too.

So reading the Rules, how the hell can they make a case for Guernsey F.C.,They are not a Step 7 Club under the guidelines given, because as yet they have to be formed. Can I make a team up' Smudges Rovers' and apply.More importantly for the C.C.L.,AFTER ASKING MANY TIMES ON THIS SITE,ABOUT THE RYMAN'S 1 YEAR GROUNDSHARING RULE,AND WHAT REPRESENTATIONS THE C.C.L. HAVE MADE ON THE CLUBS BEHALF TO THE F.A,I HAVE YET TO GET AN ANSWER.OR ARE THE C.C.L. GOING TO SAY IT IS UP TO THE CLUBS TO ENQUIRE AND APPROACH THE F.A. FOR A RULING LIKE GODALMING/BADSHOT LEA DONE LAST YEAR.the C.C.L. League as we know it could be decimated,to KENT LEAGUE LEVELS.WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE,INACTION IS NO ACTION.

I can understand what your saying inbetweener but at the end of the day doesn't that just make the whole point of having a 'league' pointless? As everyone knows football can be hard sometimes and in my opinion if you dont finish in the top 3 you shouldnt be promoted no matter who hard you've worked all season.

I played in the Wessex League for Liss Athletic years ago and we finished 3rd but due to our ground not being up to scratch we didnt get promoted and instead Hordean (who finished 9TH!!!) did because their groud was. And again just made us realise, what is the point of having a league if thats the case?

The Guernsey thing is a different issue Smudge and will be decided, initially, by the FA after consultation with the football development part of the FA.

(For what it's worth, If they do join the CCL, I hope it is at Premier Division level.

You could apply with "Smudge Rovers" to join the CCL but you would probably told to start at the bottom level.

AFC Wimbledon was a "new club" when joining the CCL but, once again, the FA made a special case for them.

In the late 90's, I remember Osterley FC leaving the Middlesex Premier League and affiliating to the Surrey FA (playing games at Ham).

They asked to join the old Surrey Premier but were put in the Surrey SE Combination.

Will Smudges Rovers be as good as AFC Wimbledon & will they have as much support - if so no-one will object to their entry as a new team Smudge smilewinkgrin.gif
