Ground grading!!!

Recommended Posts

We are being inspected later today and I'm sure the result of that will find its way on here fairly quickly.

And NICE GUY, I can confirm that yes, the rumours are true... I have decided to retire from playing duties. I felt that I'd reached my peak when I was an unused substitute at last season's match at Raynes Park Vale. So far this year I have failed to recreate the sort of form that I produced during that single appearance on the bench and so I've hung up my boots.

In all seriousness, one of our midfielder/winger/strikers went off to get a bit of match practice but he's back with us now. If anything else has happened then I've not heard yet. But then again, it's been a busy few weeks.

The result so far inconclusive ?

This pregnant pause on judgement is an apt expression dont you think, if thinking about if you have either passed or have not passed.

You cant just 'pass a bit.' Time is up now aint it, to do anything about it now..... unless Sweeney knows different.

'issues' sounds ominous.

Smudge it wasn't required. We needed to add extra seats and more hard standing that is under covered for 50 people.

WELL DONE BBM/FARNHAM, BUT MANY YEARS AGO WHEN I VISITED THE PITCH WAS AWFUL, HAS MUCH BEEN DONE TO SINCE ? .............. I JUST HOPE I'VE GOT THE RIGHT GROUND ! BBM IS THERE A WIRE MESH FENCING BEHIND ONE OF THE GOALS, IF SO I DONT THINK YOU CAN GET A WALKWAY AS THE GOAL IS RIGHT ON THE FENCING AND YOU HAVE TO WALK ACROSS THE OPITCH TO GET TO THE CLUB HOUSE ?......... NOW HAVE I GOT THE RIGHT GROUND ???

To quell a bit of speculation, they have currently failed us on one issue that we consider unjustified and are going to appeal. The saga continues...

It is tough if only one issue knocked you. Will you be giving us a clue otherwise there will be plenty of speculation. It'll be hard but you won't be the last to appeal. They go in by the bucket load over these sort of issues every year. 'bout time the FA sorted the system so all clubs know where they are. There are so many anomilies. Best of luck but it will throw confusion into the CCL run in for the runners up.

NG that is the right ground. The pitch isnt the best but we are trying to improve the whole place, but like everything it comes down to finding the money. With a youth team in place for the start of this coming season hopefully that will generate some much needed funds. I think there will be an improvement ready for next season. The wire fench is behind the goal but that was never an issue that im aware of. It was needed to be able to go around 3 sides, but have a fire exit at each side, which we have. The club house is the other side of the pitch but there is a path to walk round so you dont go over the pitch. Hope that clears it all up for you.

To quell a bit of speculation, they have currently failed us on one issue that we consider unjustified and are going to appeal. The saga continues...

Good luck with that GS although I have to be honest and say I can't recall any club in the country who've successfully appealed an inspection.

We've had our ground graded a couple of times recently (we're currently a 'D') and the graders are thorough. If you read the documents on the FA's page you'd think that's all there was to it but in reality they mention things the FA don't. One of the things we got pulled up on was that the lock on the gate where the players come out of the dressing room was on the wrong side! It was a silly little thing that was easily corrected but it shows how thorough they are. There was a tale from many years ago when we were in the Ryman League about not having enough hooks for coat hangers in the dressing rooms as well.

So, if Guildford don't get the grading, what chance is there of the second placed club in the CCL going up instead?

I'd like to think Green Fingers read my post on our forum regarding this issue but, if he didn't, then it all depends on who finishes top of the other leagues, who finishes second, and the points per game all those teams have got. It's very complicated but basically, looking at the tables as they stand the second placed team needs Wantage to finish second or below in the Hellenic and not win all their games, Whitley Bay to finish third in the Northern League, Enfield to finish second in the Essex Senior League by dropping a few points or some other teams who finish top to fail their gradings

It's all a load of nonsense of course. Top team should go up. End of story.
