Director Cliff Egan reflects on a difficult period for the club

I don't know why the club have "opened up this can of worms" again when they have previously said that they would be no further comment on this issue. IOC clearly states in the local press and the NLP that he was sacked. The club infer in this and other statements that he "walked away" Why bring up the issue again when it was starting to die down? What is behind this interview with Cliff Egan?

He states amongst other things that "the club will do the right thing by Iain". What does that mean? Many supporters would suggest that the right thing, at the very least, would have been to give Iain until the end of the season when his contract runs out.

This whole issue has been an shambles from beginning to end.

This was the first "new" programme after that event and fans would have been disappointed if the Club had not referred to this subject and the future in this programme.

It was just informing everyone through another available communication channel, as is the club policy, I believe.

Anyway onwards and upwards

Don't know why supporters get so stressed about about things, unless they are directly involved all they need do is pay to watch the game nothing else.In most cases that is all they can do. So let the powers that be get on with it. CHILL OUT !!

You certainly seem to be a disgruntled fan according to your last posts Domboy!!

To me Cliff is the salt of the earth in what he does for the club so I am surprised by that post from you!

Ok Dom, can understand that.

Why dont you actually just chat to the man at next game, as others have done, he is very approachable.

One of the motivations behind this additional communication on the situation with Iain, was a charge levelled at the board of being devious. Also, while I had prevoiously articulated the facts on this message board, the majority of fans that come through the turnstiles at Hartsdown Park are not forum members. So the decision was made to re-state the facts in the programme and the official website where the explanantion had not been so detailed.

Cliff gave an insight to the decisions that have to be made which you'll not get from most clubs and directors.

As I said in a post around the time that Iain was told he'd not be getting a contract for next season, we can communicate as much as we like but if supporters choose not to believe what is said there is little we can do about that. To an extent, we' re damned if we do, and damned if we don't (communicate) although I think there's is more often than not more to be gained by communicating / informing than not; so that's the approach we continue to take.

It's got nothing to do with it being Cliff and I'm not getting at him personally - I wouldnt even know if he walked past me and I have no interest in talking to him because while I'm sure it'll be a nice chat - I doubt I would get any answers that were not scripted and basically a marketing ploy . I was simply saying that the interview , if you actually look at the words, was basically a load of rubbish and was designed to keep fans onside . A marketing ploy . It makes no difference to me who said it - that's the point - it was scripted.

If I decide to go on Saturday , and it's not a definate as still don't want to pass my money to the club at the moment (I still feel like we are being made mugs off!!), I will be happy to "identify myself" . If you really really want, I'll where a bright t shirt with my name printed on it'!!

Cliff is very approachable and will talk straight.i find it sad that any comment from the club is criticised as being scripted. He has obligations to the club as well as supporters but will say all he can on the subject. We cant have a go earlier for not being told and then criticise when we are are given the club's version of events.the fact that it does not coincide exactly with other versions most notably in the press from IOC does not make it wrong.

It is every fan's right to withold their support and not attend but such a shame when now is the very time that the club needs feet through the turnstiles. The atmosphere on saturday was positive and i hope with reflection those disgruntled with recent events will reconsider and come back and support the club and the team.

They are after all one and the same!

Do you lot really think the club (an employer) is going to publish confidential information about its relationship with an ex-employee? You must not have much experience of the real world.

The Egan statement was as diplomatic and courteous to all parties as it could possibly be. Now get over yourselves and stop blocking up the message board with nonsense.
