Rebels 2-1 Bedworth United

If the definition of a good team is winning when they don't play well then we're a good team!! First half was shocking and the only real chance of note was almost straight from kick-off which Sean hurried. Second half we had chances without taking them before two great finishes from Sonner. We then managed to gift Bedworth a goal and ended up hanging on, albeit Burnell should have sealed it when through at the end.

Three points are what matters at the end of the day but that wasn't particularly pleasant on the eye!

coulda been a totally different game had Sonner scored in the first minute or so. shoulda scored really but glad to see him grab 2 goals in the 2nd half. overall we didn't create a great deal. their keeper made 2 or 3 good saves 2nd half

nice to see Byrne and Logie get quite a lot of playing time today will do both of them good

yet again it was much harder work than it shoulda been but as said we won and thats the most vital thing. shocking goal yet again given away from us. took some great battling blocks to make sure they didn't get a 2nd particularly by Perkins. defence looks much more solid these days BUT its just the odd stupid mistakes gifting goals

While I agree that it was not a pretty game and the result was important, I do disagree with your analysis of the match. First half we were miles better than they were, contained them well and created multiple decent chances that went just wide, second half we let them in and they had a couple of decent chances but fortunately could not shoot on target, but we took our chances and gifted them a goal. A shame that we couldn't add a third with the last chance of the game.

Seeby had a good game and Adam Martin looked very good with the passing until he was forced off.

Well done Slough, good result considering that the other teams around us won, and are playing on Tuesday (except Rugby).

Dire but 3 points. Good news today is that Leighton were beaten 3-1 at Uxbridge Hitchin, Rugby, Biggleswade, Arlesey and Daventry all won Thats Daventry's 14th consecutive win.

I agree with you that the first half was quite dire but second half I thought we played some good football, creating some excellent chances, conceeding the obligatory sloppy goal.

Again, against the better sides you cannot afford to give away soft goals.

How exactly was the first half 'dire'?

We created quite a few close chances, passed the ball around well, and Bedworth did not get a shot on target (or anywhere near the target) the whole first half. The only thing we didn't do was score.

Personally I thought the standard was not as good in the second half, defensively at least, gifting Bedworth some golden chances which they did not take, even though we were still passing around the ball well in their half and then getting the goals.

What on earth were you watching in the first half, Dan?! Was I at a different game?!! Don't get me wrong.....at this stage of the season I don't care how we get points as long as we get them but the first half was devoid of real chances and excitement. Maybe it's all those years of watching Southampton??!!!!

I think we played some exciting attacking football (but without creating much) up until the point Adam Martin suffered that heavy tackle which forced him off. After that, the rest of the first half was pretty poor fare.

Yet again, a game which should have seen us comfortable winners and with a clean sheet!

Shame that Sean Sonner couldn't complete his hat-trick near the end - I know strikers have to have a selfish side to them in order to take chances, but Danny really should have squared that - if I was Sean I'd be pretty peeved. I'm just glad it didn't cost us the result.

It's all about opinions Araas but I think your in the minority of one there.

For the first half-hour, we were looking quite good, with some nice attacking football and link-up play. Had it not been for the customary poor finishing, we could have been 2 or 3 up at half time. When Adam Martin went off however, the game seemed to die on its feet and the rest of the half was like watching paint dry.

As for the second-half, I think that had it not been for Sean Sonner's quick thinking and good anticipation, we would have struggled to break Bedworth down.

For the large part, our defence looks a bit more solid compared with earlier stages of the season (although yesterday this owed a bit to Bedworth's poor shooting). However, every game it seems we manage to gift the opposition a goal.

Still, three points is three points, despite our best efforts to throw them away! But teams like Daventry and Arelesey will see these recent performances and think "we have nothing to fear".

I thought that was a bit like the North Greenford game in a way, we were easily the better side but managed to give away a soft goal to keep the game alive

for Bedwiorth at the end. Having said that, their keeper made two excellent saves from Danny Burnell and on another day Danny Burnell would have scored

that good chance at the end. MOM for me was Sean Sonner, not just for his two goals but excellent workrate. We do need to cut out the silly goals against though.

Good win all in all.

Erm, in the first half Sonner's missed chance after doing all the hard work, Woozley's free header straight at the goalkeeper, Herron's free kick that hit the outside of the post for example? Have to agree not exciting, but then what team (barring Hitchin) comes to play us promoting an exhibition of exciting football? It's the usual mix of long ball, hit the channels, keep it tight and wait for Slough to give you a goal or two.
