Chertsey 1 v 3 MVSCR

Probably our best performance of the season.

Weathered an early Chertsey storm, as you would have expected - fortunately NLS seemed to have left his shooting boots behind, and gradually got into the game.

Chertsey definitely had the better of the first half, but apart from a sloppy goal, conceeded when we failed to defend a corner properly, i cannot recall our keeper having a really difficult save to make. At the other end Bradshaw made two very good save (one from close range, and one from a header - although that was more for the cameras).

Should have been 2-0 early in the second half, but Chertsey forward - dont think it was NLS - missed an open goal.

This seemed to spur us on, and two quick goals midway through the half, from Liam Holden and Daryl Cooper-Smith put us ahead.

Increased lead through Jayde Spence with about 15 to go, and after a tough last 10, as we had been reduced to 10 men, we held on for a deserved win.

Very proud of the lads today - in all honesty, i was hoping for a decent performance ahead of the cup semi, and if we nicked a point, i would have been happy.

FAIR & HONEST REPORT BRIGGS, I THINK THAT CHERTSEY MAY REGRET THEIR MISSED CHANCES ESPECIALLY WITH GUILDFORD ONLY DRAWING !

THOUGHT MV JUST SHADED IT, BUT I WAS A BIT DISAPPOINTED WITH CHERTSEY WHO SEEMED TOP LACK THAT SPARK. WITH CAMBERLEY WINNING ITS GETTING MORE EXCITING BETTER THAN LAST SEASON ! BUT AS WE HAVE SAID, THERE WILL BE MORE TWISTS AND TURNS BEFORE THE END OF THE SEASON, BUT IN ALL HONESTY I FEEL ITS GUILDFORDS TO LOSE NOW..........................BUT YOU NEVER KNOW !

INTERESTING GAME ON TUESDAY AT KROONER PARK, CHERTSEY LOOKING FOR SOME FAVOURS......BIG GAME FOR CAMBERLEY, KROONZZZZZ YOU GOING ?

A disaster for Croydon at the Arena today when they allowed Badshot Lea back into a game that they should have won at a canter, BL appeared to be missing a load of players and only had one sub.

The Trams crucified them at the back where BL had a distinct lack of pace and a team, with any kind of confidence would have maramalised them.

Croydon went 1 up through a 19th minute Paul Scott header and then missed the most dodgiest of dodgy penalties in the 2nd half. Keeper saved and the taker Martin Smith skied a shot over from the rebound when a simple header would have done.

2-0 would have killed it but bizarrely even though BL have nothing to play for (I think you know who i'm getting at here) they kept going - equalising in the 84th minute through Marcus Cousins and sealing the win 5 minutes later through Devon Williams.

No complaints from a Croydon perspective - they've played well with no luck 3 games running and now when their luck turns a little they spurn it anyway.

Better than watching England anyway.....

BADSHOT LEA MISSING PLAYERS AND ONLY HAD ONE SUB......WHY ? .......... WELL IT WAS AT THE ARENA ...LOL !

EASY TO SAY STREETCAR AFTER THE EVENT ! BUT DON'T CRY WOLF WHEN YOUR PLAYER MISSES A PEN AND SKIES OVER ON THE REBOUND........ COMMENT: '' 2-0 WOULD HAVE KILLED IT'' BUT YOU DIDN'T AND LET BADSHOT BACK IN WHO'S FAULT ...............'' HAD '' YOU WON, PERHAPS CERTAIN COMMENTS WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MADE ? ................ Dorking v Cove

Enjoyable game in the spring Meadowbank sunshine. Bonus points awarded for spotting BJR's cameo appearance :)

Great coverage as usual TRS I think you will confirm that both Dorking and ourselves played this game full tilt and made it a very enjoyable afternoon especially for us as we took the points,Have to say Dorking were very unlucky on occasions but its the same old story when you are down the wrong end of the table they just didn't get the rub of the green,we played very well and took most of our chances with Duffs as mom for his 2 assists and a goal

Hanworth win one nil at Egham. Penalty around 65 mins.

Our new boss has some work to do. We had two signings from Dorking Wandererers, James Frayne and Reon Thomas, the latter looking quite useful and producing one of our two decent shots on target in the first half. Anthony Oaks hit the second ahd then fell over his feet with a chance late in the first half. Villa missed chance after chance. Louis Shennan raced clear in the first half but shot wide under pressure from Paul Bartholomew. In the first 30 seconds of the second half Levi King hammered a shot that Justin Gray parried to Shennan who then missed an open goal. Bartholomew headed off the line on 56 minutes. Two minutes later a silly challenge by our skipper Tom Bentley conceded a penalty that King rolled home - Gray made no attempt to save it, which is not the first time we have seen this strange behaviour. Gray then clawed Shennan's lob to safety and King had an air shot. Finally Shaun Preddie made a complete hash of a chance he made with a run down the middle; after seemingly rounding Gray he saw his shot hacked off the line by the keeper. All we had was a swinger from John Pomroy, well wide, and a Tom Martin header over from a rare corner. We battled pretty well and at times looked a darn site better than the dreck of the first half at Guildford City, but still lacked punch and looked dodgy at the back. Smudge will probably find something to disagree with!!!

Spot on. Hanworth could have won wearing flip flops. Might be time to start taking them serious.

Cheers duncs. Yes, a very competitive game and if you weren't in the know it would be difficult to tell which side was more in need of the points. I may be biased, but I think Meadowbank is the nicest ground in the CCL to watch a game in decent weather! Agree that Duff was man of the match, seemed to be all over the pitch.

Does anyone else think this reply is gibberish? Of course it's only conjecture that a 2 nil lead would have won the game - especially considering how flaky Croydon team currently is, but I was there and I think my opinion is valid in this instance - and who do you think i'm blaming for the defeat? Surely it was down to a mixture of the home teams ineptitude and the away team's perserverance. "Had" we won, I would have written that we completely dominated a poor Badshot Lea team and that maybe we had turned the corner and we could face our next opponents with some confidence, as it is we will likely fill one of the 3 relegation spots and take our chances at the end of the season. Fair enough, there has to be losers so that there can be winners - no complaints.

And would your snarky reply be because you have been proved wrong once again about teams losing interest at this time of year - touche indeed.

Anyone see the lammasv southpark game? Weren't there to see it! Seemed a fiery game with 3 sent off!

Not really that fiery, referee a bit card happy. Lammas no9 got a second yellow for dissent. A bad tackle saw another red for Lammas but I have seen worse tackles get away with a yellow. Sending offs kind of ruined what was an end to end game as staines just had to sit in and soak up south park pressure. Which they did very well. Hard to see how Staines have lost 13 games this season on that showing.

Anyone see the lammasv southpark game? Weren't there to see it! Seemed a fiery game with 3 sent off!

Worst half of football we've played this season and Staines battered us, 2 goalkeeping errors gifted Staines a deserved 2 goal lead at the break. Second half we dominated but could only break down a tough defence once and Staines took all the points and im not going to make excuses they deserved to win. As for the sending offs....first one, striker just been booked for a late tackle, less than 30 secs later makes a good tackle but Ref gives us the foul so gets up throws the ball away and swears at the Ref, Ref has no choice but to give a 2nd yellow. Second Red was a late tackle by Greenwood, but compaired to some of the tackles i've had off him this one was well timed, yellow would of been enough, so a little unlucky. Third was a sub warming up and when we asked the lino what he said, he replied "if he had of said that to you in the street you would of decked him!" .

Oh well after two slip ups, it doesnt get any tougher than Worcester Park and Bedfont Sports AWAY next two games. Think they call it make or break time!!

MOLLY DO YOU THINK THE PRESSURE OF HAVING TO WIN IS PUTTING PRESSURE ON YOUR TEAM HENCE LAST 2 RESULTS ? WIN AGAINST WORCESER PARK IS MASSIVE TO KEEP THEM AWAY FROM CATCHING YOU UP. GOT PLENTY OF GAMES IN HAND AGAINST BEDFONT SPORTS SO PROMOTION LOOKS GOOD

There is a bit of the pressure side of it creeping in, but we've been on catch up all season through our good FA & Vase cup runs, so i cant see it really effecting us. Last two games we've had to dig deep within the squad, the main problem being 2 of our back four have been out and its seemed to unsettle the team, but im happy to say there both back for Wedsnesday game dance%20(2).gif

Could be very interesting in Div 1,Bedfont's last 5 games do not look easy.

South Park (h),Warlingham (a)Knaphill (a)Frimley Green (h)Cobham (a) be a brave man to predict many points there, even though by Nice Guys reckoning they should get 12 at least.Midtable sides an all,key they beat South Park surely.

I think Sports will be fine, they have the players to crack on now, especially if Newby can stay on the pitch, I think they will beat South Park and Warlingham and if they do then there tails will be up and they will finish the season strong.

Lammas will be tough tests for Warlingham and Worcester Park and the feel good factor is back at the club and we are already planning for next season!
