Town 1 Bury (and their referee ) 2

Recommended Posts

To be fair Billericay were not at their best but Bury were not much better ( apart from simulation where they excelled )

The match will long be remembered for the quite appalling match officials and in particular the referee, who totally spoilt this game.

I lost count on the yellows but I think it was 6-5 in Billericay's favour. ( It was never a dirty game).

Harrison scored our goal late in the game and we had a decent shout at the end as their keeper appeared to carry the ball across the line. However, the referee and his assistant had proved themselves totally incapable well before then.

Good crowd of well over 500.

First half we were off the pace and ultimately that cost us. Second half was better but it was always going to be an uphill struggle. Nice finish from H for the goal though.

Final word for the officials. There have been some poor ones, but they were by far the worst seen at NL this season. WoefulIy inept really doesn't do their display justice.

A disappointing result but we are still in the mix so have to make sure we pick ourselves up and get back on it at Folkestone.

We missed two very presentable chances at 0-0 and for me that was the turning point. Had we been able to get a lead they may have keeled over having lost their last couple of games. Unfortunately we missed our chances and they took theirs and that was the difference at the end.

The ref gave two free-kicks in the first minute and that set the tone for the whole game. We cop a fine for 6 bookings and half of them were completely unnecessary, as were many of the yellows that they received. The officials just weren't up to the job yesterday I'm afraid.

Who knows, we may get an opportunity to play Bury again this season. If we do let's hope it's third time lucky. On yesterday's evidence I do think we are capable of beating them.

Back on the bus for Folkestone please. Come on you Blues!!

The keeper looked to have taken the ball way over the line and that FACT was backed up by those standing on the side (and by a couple of rogue Bury supporters who were also in line). We weren't at our best but I thought we deserved a draw, Bury produced little other than a good first goal and capitalised on a [****!!****]-up for the second. As for the ref and Bury players, the words end and bell come to mind.

As has been previously said the officials ruined what could have been a good match. The ref was not able to cope with the magnitude of the game and after giving yellows in the first half decided to brandish them to as many people as possible, The assistant on the clubhouse side was either blind or a liar as how he could give a report to the ref resulting in junior getting a yellow after being punched mystifies me. He also apparrently failed to give their 1st goal offside when their player jumped the ball on the line stating Wild played him on, somewhat of an impossibility and he was so far behind play at the end he was unable to rule the ball over the line despite people in line stating that it was definitely over.

Still that unfortunately is the what we have to put up with at this level and at least we got the rub of the green last Tuesday. What amazes me is that a footbal, league ref who was assessing him can say he had an exceptional game, ruling his decisions as good from the comfort of the back of the stand. perhaps we should send the bill for the fine resulting from his ineptitude to the ref and his rose colured glass wearing assessor.

Good news was we are still in the play offs and can consolidate our position with a good result against Folkestone next Sat. Lets hope we get a bumper crowd down there to cheer the lads on, remember how many we had in their clubhouse for the cup draw which saw us get Swansea, lets try and repeat that atmosphere.

Note the comment about donations to the up keep of our pitch... Oh and in the second one, about how we elbowed, kicked...etc!!!

I don't care at what temprature it's served up at but nothing is going to calm me down until we get revenge....in spades!!!

I'm not sure I agree with all the comments about the ref.

Yes, he was clearly inept, but refs at this level are used to men playing the game.

The reason I like to watch non-league football is because it's much more similar to the game of old.

Players tend to want to get on with the game and if you take a kick, then so be it.

Bury came with the approach of "Sky-football" - feel a touch, fall over, and then crowd the referee to make sure you get the decision.

I don't feel cheated by the ref, but more aggrieved by the blatant cheating, play-acting and bad sportsmanship of their team.

Unlike others, I don't want to play them again - there is no enjoyment to me in watching that.

Looking at the size of their support, presumably many from Suffolk feel the same?

With them and Tonbridge in the play-offs, that style clearly works these days.

However, I know where I'd rather be on a Saturday afternoon.

Well done to all the players for keeping their cool and still being the better team for large parts of the game.

Man of the match yet again for me was Charlie Allen - what a great signing.

Re: the ref.

I am wondering if this is like the old days of the GPO, where you promote the bad ones out of your area so you don't have to have the problem of firing them.

Interestingly the ref, Chris O'Donnell, hails from the Bedfordshire area. If you google his name, you will find out that he was nominated as one of their stars for the future and rewarded with a special FA course. At that event he was briefed/coached by an array of top national and international referees - obviously it didn't work for him !!!!!!

I would suspect that all that attention may have gone to his head.

Obviously the Bury support don't feel the same, this is why we average nearly 200 more then you? not bad considering Bury is half the size. As the TV programme says "the only way is Essex" I think us, you and anyone with an IQ greater than your average supporters will disagree.

What a [censored] hole of a place you all live in. I feel no anger or hatred for you, just sadness. It's almost like watching comic relief but with more stone island and burberry outfits.

That Gazza bloke?? youth coach?? he sounds like a right knob. Not a surprise that you're [censored]. with him teaching the young players.

Anyway, enjoy your cockles or whelks or whatever you chav lot enjoy.

bye xx
