Thing is a lot of the games are meaningless early in the season. For example, Colliers Wood Utd v Cove played in November would have been meaningless as realistically neither club were going to win the League or be relegated.I can understand NG's thinking in trying to spice things up at this time of the season but just don't think his idea is the answer. And before anyone asks, no I don't have a better idea!

 

THANK YOU TRS AT LEAST 'YOU' KNOW WHERE I'M COMING FROM........... PEOPLE ARE ALL TOO READY TO KNOCK BUT WHEN IT COMES UP WITH ANY OTHER IDEAS ITS OH SO SILENT, SO ONE SUGGESTS THAT WE ARE ALL HAPPY WITH A STAGNANT LEAGUE COME THE TURN OF THE YEAR/JANUARY............

After seeing everyones views on this subject i now have an opinion different than my first gut reaction !

 

Yes of course i would love to still be involved in a cup or be involved in the 'Niceguys Cup' late in the season but it is just such a false cup.

 

It is the same as the PLATE Trophy in 5 a side tournaments for all of the losers! Its just so false! You lost.......so you werent good enough....so why should you get an extra bite at the cherry?

 

Teams at the start of the season get a number of choices of which cups to enter and many of the teams enter up to 5 or 6 different cups! If come January they are out of all of them, tough sh-it ! You cant reward teams that fall short ! If you're out of all of the cups then it means you were not good enough on the day and maybe you need to concentrate on doing better in the league and achieve as high a position in the league as possible!

 

This cup nonsense is just that.......................................NONSENSE!

 

Cove are out of all cups which we have not been used to in the past 2 seasons so we are concentrating hard on working towards gaining a higher position than last season and working towards next season. If we can break the top 6 position, maybe higher quality players will look at Cove and want to join next season especially with all the activity behind the scenes happening at Cove!

 

An extra cup for all the ' nearly, but not quite good enough teams' is a kick in the teeth for the teams that are either in the final or won their respective cups! They won it cos they entered at the start of the season and were unbeaten in that competition !

Enjoyed last night. Was a tight but competitive game ... you would never had know that neither team had any silverware to play for.

 

The only bit that I disagreed with aon your comments was about the plate competition. Depending on how many games you get initially I think that there can be a place for these. If you compete in a big group though and then do not qualify then tough.

If you have one or two games and are knocked out then a plate competition has it's place.
