tonights result-Bowers v eton manor

Recommended Posts

Bowers 1 Eton Manor 1, after losing their three previous home matches 0-4,0-5 and 1-7 Bowers finally managed to gain a home point tonight against a weakened Eton Manor side.

Weakened? Bowers have been putting out triallists to make up the numbers recenlty, u18s and Ressies making up tthe squad. At this level you can't insist that a player turns up but would be nice!

See Basildon United are on a run at the mo'.too :)

Bowers took the lead through ressie player Charlie Kirby with a terrific lob over the keeper, can't see Charlie in the ressies for much longer. HT 1-0.

Manor equalised early in the 2nd half when their No. 6 rifled a defensive clearance back into the top corner.

Then Bowers had a chance to nick it at the end when another ressie player, Yew Danso was brought down in the box by Manor's keeper. Unfortunately the keeper, who was lucky to had only got a yellow, saved Sean Merchant's spot kick.

PS. The ref was great and worth the entrance fee alone. I loved the bit when Manor's right back shouted "sort it out ref", to which the ref yelled "I'll sort you out in a minute". Classic!!!

Who cares?! Ponderosa no one is gonna commit 100% to play for a bottom of the table side when sometimes they have to sacrifice work and loose money. Might be different if you were fighting for honours. Both are poor sides run badly that will finish in the bottom two and I'll be very surprised if both managers don't leave/sacked at end of season.

certainly no plans at Basildon to sack a manager who has worked wonders on and off the pitch in difficult circumstances, i dont like passing comment on other teams but got to laugh at people portraying Bowers as a hard luck story, they have excellent facilities mainly due to their hardworking manager and staff and have a wage bill, if they cant attract a half decent side with that on offer then what chance have the rest of us got.

good point basil-don, imagine the stansted manager or BGU manager took there team over to bowers, they would have a great chance of playing rymans league football, dont no the bowers manager ,heard he has done a lot for bowers of the pitch but football is a results business.

I agree with you Don, Bowers do have a good facility now ready for ryman football and the current management have worked hard to achieve this.

But its on the pitch that counts and in 2 seasons its been proven that they are out of their depth at this level. They have a had good players over the last 2 seasons come and go which tells me if ur getting paid, playing on a nice pitch and nice ground why else would you leave. Bowers recently have looked more like a sunday morning side.

The basildon scenario is different. I believe the manager there has had success previously with bowers and barkingside. But is working as you said in difficult circumstances at Basildon.

The club is at the cross roads and with no money to spend its only ever gonna be an up hill battle for whoever is in the hot seat.
