Hendon 2 Afc Hornchurch 1

Recommended Posts

A game we really should of got something from, although a point was about all we would of deserved. To be honest,we need to play better than that to get into the play offs.Hendon started the game playing nice neat football and had a goal ruled offside after about 20 minutes and only then did we start playing,in a good 10-15 minute spell for us we could of had a couple with some good play put wide from Louis smith.Their goal on the stroke of half time was down to bad goalkeeping where Darren should of been more commanding. We started off sloppy again in the second half but an early substitution of keiron st Aimee on for tam seemed to give us more attacking prowess and then Tuohy on for mcsweeney changed the game further, suddenly we were in total control and got the equaliser soon after,a good finish from tuohy. We then looked for the winner but hendon still pacy up front put a good move together to score the winner, although from the other end of the ground I thought we stood off them too much.Even then we had chances to win.Overall dissapointed with the result but I think we did play well when we threw caution to the wind the last 25 mins but we do need to improve defensively and start scoring more goals otherwise the play offs will be beyond us soon, which is annoying as we are a match for anyone in this league

i have to agree we did not play with any brains, someone on the pitch must be able to take the bull by the horns and instgate some sort of revival plan if a early goal goes in we have quality all over the pitch we just dont use it to the best of their ability

i said on the pitch players not managers cant a player stand up and be counted encourage others around them, a ralling cry whatever it takes someone must be able to take the initiative if things aint going as planned

Recently we seem to play far too defensively and just invite pressure in the hope we get something on the break - I'd like to see us really have a go a teams and attack them and play to our strengths (with the quality of Hunt, Collis and Black passing it through midfield should be a doddle) we also seem to be lacking on the wings....Tam hasnt been with it the past few games and Collins seems more defensively minded....anyway lets just hope for a massive improvement come Saturday.

I do think we set up not to let goals in firstly, our goal ratio would also suggest that but it has been relatively succesful this season to be honest, when we started the season we were more attacking but did get caught out too often,Same could be said last night that when we went more attacking,ok we got the goal but we were caught a bit at the back. Its a bit like being caught between the rock and a hard place.

Our defence tends to be our strength so it would seem natural to play to that.
