CK

I also saw CK at the match, is his return imminent or were the directors just sounding him out, after all Gary Abbott was also there last night. Who knows what the future holds but i for one would welcome CK back, as long as last nights performance doesn't make him run in the opposite direction.

Fantastic news, especially bearing in mind KP's comments in the paper yesterday. Directors of Football are pointless at our level though so let's have Chris back as manager or not at all.

Are you able to share whay KP commented in the newspaper-thanks. ?

Hope this helps Michael Thanet Times 22 March 2011

Keith Piper

Margate director Keith Piper still regrets sacking Chris Kinnear-five years after the most succssful manager in the clubs history was shown the door.

"Not a day goes by when I haven't regretted my decision over Chris but hindsight is a wonderful thing and there's not much I can do about it now"

"We've been looking for a Chris Kinnear II ever since and as yet,we haven't found one".

"Chris has never applied for the job since he left and we've never spoken to him about it"

Iain O'connell

"He doubts Chris Kinnear would return to the Gate".

They have spoken since his departure & he goes on to say

"Would he come back? I don't know, maybe one day,but I'm not sure he would at the moment"

DoF would just be extra wages, and that kind of set up doesn't work at this level anyway.

I agree, but my thoughts are that CK would be reluctant to return to the hot seat - but KP wants him back on board so DOF is a start to do that.

DOF is a role to get someone involved & hopefully interested in taking over the reins when the Manager doesn't work out.

<ie the Ashby regime with 'local' players was never going to work ... Yorath didn't really want the hot seat but took on the DOF role, Ashby fails so it's the DOF's responsibility to push him out of the way and get in a replacement ... but, by then, watching the mistakes of a lesser Manager has done enough to whet the appetite of Yorath enough to get him in the mood to take over - so KP gets his man in a roundabout way.

I'm glad that the club are not rushing into the appointment of a new manager. Kevin Raine as caretaker is more than capable until the end of the season, especially as we are just about safe from relegation. In a few weeks time we should have building approval for the new ground, and then there will be a lot of interest from potential managers and players alike, who will be relishing the chance to play in a brand new ground.

But he'll bring Olivers Army with him & we can't afford the lot of them.

But we should get a bigger gate to pay for that lot. (good half time entertainment)
