Cray Wanderers V Billericay Town

Recommended Posts

A great victory especially given the results elsewhere tonight. We were slow to get into our stride in the first half but sprung into life with a great solo effort by Charlie Allen, bursting over the half way line on the left hand side before cutting in and evading tackles across the edge of the penalty area before firing in a shot which I think took a slight deflection to wrong foot their goalie. We then proceeded to take command of the game with James Lawson looking more effective when he was switched to the right wing. It was a bit of a shock when Cray equalised just before the break. A free kick awarded out by the left touch line was fired low into our area ,evading all our defenders and smartly hit home to give Nicky Morgan no chance. However the second half was only a couple of minutes old when Tony Boot burst through on the right hand side and sent in a powerful shot with the outside of his right boot which curled round the goalie and nestled just inside the far post to restore our lead. We then controlled the rest of the half. I don't think Nicky Morgan had a save to make. Boot again burst through and appeared to be brought down by their goalie. The referee at first gave a penalty, but after consulting the linesman, booked Tony for diving. Tony had the last laugh by poking the ball home after a defensive mix up. The whole team played well, but for me, the most eye catching performance was by Charlie Allen. Role on Saturday, and a bumper gate.

Could that be the result of the season thus far ?! . Every result went for us too ! Noticed that Nicky Morgan was in goal from above report ... Is Ashlee injured ? But what an impressive end to the season and sets saturday up doesnt it !!! Whatever happens now it has been a fanrtastic achievement by the management and players . Yep made my night watching from afar .

Well done lads ! :)

Errm , just need to beat Bury 6 zip and we are 2nd :)

Correction Keith, only a 3-0 win needed to climb to 2nd. Any 3 points, will do me though, massive game. Our home form is excellent at the moment, so we should go in with confidence.

Think where we were only a couple of months ago- well done to Craig and all the boys.

What a night!

Agree with TC that must go down as one of my favourite games. Apprehensive walking through the gate after our appearance there a few years back however we probably look as good as we have all season, once we got into our stride.

Booty looks a breath of fresh air up front, a natural striker who can find space, pass and find the back of the net, he took his first goal with a finish of pure class and his second, although a tap in was caused by his perserverance and closing down of the keeper. Charlie Allan looks to be the find of the season, at just 19 I just hope we can hang on to him to see us through to lifting the league title!!!!!! His goal was unbelieveable, definite goal of the season, but his endless running and enthusiasm epitomised the ethos around the team. Fantastic performance across the park, even the occasional 'murray' comment couldn't deny us victory!!

Sat is now huge, we need a bumper gate so get everyone down to New Lodge.
