Warlingham 2-2 Hartley Wintney

 

Another injury time goal costs us yet again this time with only 21 seconds left!! First half was bossed by a very good and well organised HW side I thought their captain was excellent through out the game.Wars should have gone 1up in the first couple minutes but striker Jansen failed to connect to a fee header 6 yards out. HW went 1-0 up on 30mins with a decent move and were certainly on top for the majority of the first half but only one goal to the good and both teams seemed to be hitting long balls to often. Wars changed shape at half time and it worked well with the equaliser coming on 55 mins through Jansen then on 65min take a bow Brunty with his 3rd 'worldy' of the season all at home. A corner comes in from the left gets cleared to where Brunty is 25 yards out on the volley and smashes it in the back of the net 2-1 up and Wars now cruising. Hartley seemed to lose their way but never gave up and always tried to play. The game was of a fast pace and both sides were commited in a fair old battle but no hand bags Wars should have gone 3-1 up only for a fine save from the goalkeeper when Bugden was 1on1. Then deep in injury time and no matter how many times late goals have come back to haunt us this season we again gave away a silly free-kick failed to clear our lines an unbelievably HW player strikes form edge of box through a crowd of players and trickles in the bottom corner. Exactly 21 seconds later the ref blows for full time!! Absolutely gutted!!

 

With silly free kicks leading to last minute goals against us this season become a novelty we really must learn to stay focused and concentrate.

 

Some good strong individual performances tonight and credit to the players who stood up and were counted after some poor performances individually on Friday night tonight my team showed good character and a bit of bolloc*s!

 

An all round better display from Wars tonight and a strong second half showing deserved more but Once again silly fouls and lack of concentration has cost us and thats not for the first time this season. Worcester Park away Saturday so it dont get easier but alot of encouragement to take into that game.

To be fair the boys at the back have been brilliant. Nothing they could have done about the equaliser. Another tough test on Saturday at WP.

Spot on Brunty, sick of these injury time winners/equalisers though, after playing so well in the second half, don't think they really had a chance on goal. Dont play down your goal either though, fair play, it was indeed another 25yard worldy - volley/half volley? Great strike mate.

I was at the Warlingham game last night as a neutral and agree with everything that has been posted so far. Definitely the proverbial "game of two halves."

 

As a neutral I would say that a draw was probably fair, but given the lateness of the equaliser I can understand Warlingham's disappointment.

 

Warlingham's second was one of the best strikes I have seen for a while.

I was at the Warlingham game last night as a neutral and agree with everything that has been posted so far. Definitely the proverbial "game of two halves."

 

As a neutral I would say that a draw was probably fair, but given the lateness of the equaliser I can understand Warlingham's disappointment.

 

Warlingham's second was one of the best strikes I have seen for a while.

 

 

Shame TRS wasnt there last night , would have looked good on video - i dont know whats happening at the moment they all just seem to be going in ! Long may it continue!
