Makes me laugh

I haven`t posted on here for ages, mainly because I moved away, but I follow the threads after the matches and there seem to be people on here only happy when they are moaning! earlier on in the season there were people moaning and jumping on the bandwagon about the lack of a 20 goal a season striker. We manager to get one with an excellent goal per game ratio may I add and those people have gone quiet again. Then after today people say we should have taken our chances and won by a clearer margin, we are the 3rd highest goal scorers in the league, it seems to me its the defence that needs to cut out leaking silly goals. However just because they are in a lower position to us, it doesnt mean we should be beating them 6-0. I am happy with 3 points and we are still in the mix for the play off places and what no one has mentioned yet it was a home win! which is something that we have been lacking in! Its at this stage of the season we should be pulling together and getting behind the team in their quest for a play off place. COYR!!

Could not agree more Richie, trouble is some like to just criticise without looking at the bigger picture. They forget it's 11 v's 11 and just look at the league table and think we should simply turn-up and 6-0 against teams lower in the league.

They forget at this stage of the season where PART-TIME teams are nervous and you play Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday , that not every chance created should be a goal. At this stage of the season any win is a good win in my opinion and why moan when were the 2nd best team in the league form wise over the last 8 games (15 out of 18). Worry about goal difference with a few games left a la Sutton Coldfield last season, not now when we have games in hand - wins are the most important things at the moment, so why pick up the negatives after a win?

For me Barton away is a tough game as we found out with the 3-3 last season, but should we not win it i'm sure there will be lots of moans as per the norm, come win or lose....

Come on Slough!

Richie: you are correct in what the say. The probem with some of our fans is they have a very limited/no knowledge of the workings of the game, and this is shown

up time and time again by their inane postings on here. I sometimes think we should have an idiot alert attached to certain posters.

idiot alert!

I agree with you WR that you should never boo your players or the team. However, there may be a point when someone clearly isnt bothering or does something which will have an adverse effect on the team that they could then be booed.

For example William Gallas threatening to score an own goal for Chelsea a few years back. This is something where booing him is acceptable.

Very funny Heavy Trucker, you have just underlined my point. I know you and your brother Mark have been watching Slough a long time , as have I, (since 1972),

so would you not agree that it is not the sign of a true supporter to boo players of your own team?

I think the majority of Slough supporters encourage the team as much as they can but most of us recognise if a player is committed to the cause or whether they're just going through the motions and are hiding on the pitch. We are all guilty of moaning from time to time.

However, some so-called supporters seem to only come to games, to get off their chests all their pent-up frustrations about life and are constantly bickering at the ref or whoever they don't like in amber and blue. This instance is far worse than the ordinary geeing up/tried attempts at motivating a player that most of us do.

I stand on the side of the pitch mostly and have to put up with someone in my vicinity who is vociferous in his attacks on Simon Martin's workrate. This so called supporter sees a completely different game to me but he pays his ticket fee just like me and so is entitled to an opinion.I personally don't think he is doing any favours to Simon Martin's confidence by his constant barracking and nor do I think it's right to single out someone all the time but we all have our favourite players and least favourite ones. To me,Simon Martin,is a decent hardworking, honest centre forward who can make a difference to our attack play but other days can't hit a barndoor with a banjo! but least he tries and doesn't give needless free kicks away or get booked for for dissent, which some of our other strikers and midfielders do a lot of the time.

So,of course,we all have different ideas on what it takes to being a true fan to our beloved team.

Good post 3spirit.

As you say most supporters have their favourite and least favourite players and have the right to express their opinions on different players performance or lack of performance during a game. This is just the norm for a supporter who is passionate about his team.

This is totally different to a continual vociferous slating of a player which will destroy the players confidence and ultimately do more harm than good to the team.

On the point of Simon Martin, your words decent, honest, hardworking sums him up to a tee.

As a big centre forward, he is probably a bit too 'nice' to opposing defenders often getting shoved off the ball a bit too easily. I personally would like to him show more aggression and become a bit more of a 'pain in the a#se' to opposing defenders.

I don't recall anybody being booed on Saturday. All I recall is some people having a discussion about some of the players places in the team, and of the management's decision to leave them on.

There's a world of difference between that and standing on the touchline, screaming abuse at a player.

no i would not agree with that statement as long as the booing is justified, sometimes if the player has the character it's just the kick up the jacksie he needs to improve his immediate performance, and if he is not of that character then he has no business being on the field.
