Southend Manor 2 Burnham Ramblers 0

Stansted 3 Basildon 1

Bowers 1 Witham 7

Two people (one from Bowers and one from Witham) have said to me that the Bowers manager has resigned. It'll be a pity as he's always come across as a decent enough bloke when we've played Bowers.

I think his resignation if true, will only be for the better of the club. Nice bloke or not I think the last 2 seasons since taking the reigns at the len salmon have proved that he is short at this level. the large turnover of players both last season and this current one prove that there is something obviously wrong with the club or his management. Every week results seem to get worse and the table doesn't lie I'm afraid.

After being impressed by Tuesday, thought i'd watch Southend Manor again. Sun shining on the sea front and a very assured perfomance from a young and energetic Manor side. Should have been more than 2 -0, but nevertheless some good football played by both teams but believe Southend did deserve the 3 points. Burnham were lucky early on when their keeper handled outside the box and only got a yellow, but to be fair, nobody likes to see someone sent off, it kills the game, so I was pleased it stayed as 11 v 11 and I was treated to a decent game. Cracking 25 yarder from the left back from the resulting free kick. Well done Manor.

Agree with Vegas Baby our keeper was lucky to stay on - although talking to the ref in the bar after the game both he & the assesor say a yellow was right as it was a non-goalscoring oppurtunity

I did say to him in a polite manner that this just goes to show how bad some of the decisions are as if the goalie handling the ball outside the box (deliberate or not) is not preventing a goalscoring oppurtunity then I don't know what is. To me it's another example of where a ref (or assesor) have never played the game. As manager I was fully expexting Jack to be sent-off. Glad he wasn't

As for the rest of the game if we'd taken a couple of the early chances it would have been different, but after that we never looked like scoring. Fair play to Manor, also great strike from the left back for the first goal.

One moan though - is there no way the fence around the pitch be made solid as it does slow the game up a hell of a lot and with a replacement ball not that forthcoming from the bench it is very hard to get up any momentum or tempo
