Mole Valley SCR 0-1 Chessington & Hook Utd

Disappointing result today, in a game settled by a howler by our keeper.

We probably edged it in terms of number of chances, and Chessington keeper Daniels made 2/3 very good saves, whilst our lad, apart from the goal did not really have a save to make.

We need to find some form again, ahead of the semi final, as we have not played well in our last three games.

Took a few pics at the game

More can be found here or here

Better news from our Reserves though, who beat Bookham 5-0 in the Reserve Challenge Cup semi-final, setting up a final against Westfield (should be a decent game, as they have had two good matches in the league this season).

Feltham 1 Sheerwater 0

We came out of this 'battle' with three points and i'll be honest here...We were fortunate!! On a bobbly pitch with possibly the worst referee's performance I've seen for some time, this meant that a 'football match' couldn't be played!!

Both side started out fairly even but the Sheers started to take slight control of possesion but didn't really create all too much except a header off the bar. Around hal an hour we played possibly the only real 'football play' from ourselves after I won a tackle and our centre midfielder drilled a low through ball with the outside of his foot, this unleashed our lightning young winger who wasn't being caught and laid the ball square for our forward to tap into an empty net, 1-0. The rest out the half was fairly stretched in truth, almost like it was the end of a game with both sides throwing bodies forward without really creating anything again.

Second half and this is where it became annoying and frustrating at the same time! The referee's linesman had 58 minutes on it at the end of the match and this game didn't see any player recieve treatment from either bench and wasn't a dirty game in anyway. The referee was very whistle happy and was giving odd decisions for no apparent reason and left both sides baffled at times and on nearly ever throw in decision he was going against the linesman on the dugout side which again buffled and annoyed both sides! He then started getting card happy, mainly with us and failed to play any advantages. I was suprised as normally we've had him he has been very good, but then also after the game apologised for, wait for it...'Having a bad day at the office'

Anyway back to the game. Sheers had the lion share of the second half and created a number of clear cut chances, from hitting the bar on two or three other occasions, even blazing over from two yards at one point with an open goal bearing down on the just on substitute and then again another solid display from our keeper making a couple of fine saves to keep the Sheers at bay. I did feel bad for them in a way, they deserved at least a point out of the game maybe more, but thats football right? Sometimes you win ugly when you don't really deserve (like we did today), then there are games where you dominate but don't get any reward. Normally teams at the top can play poor but come away with a 4-0 win, it never makes sense and I guess that's why we all love the game, because every game is different. Sheerwater are certainly not a poor side and we've played poorer sides who are in the top ten and if they keep going the right way with these same players then next season they will be ones to watch in my opinion!!

I was nice marking Young Veteran most of the game as I was moved from my right back role and into centre half for today and was struggling a little with an infected toe, but enjoyed it with a clean sheet to boot! I also met 'Cookie' aka Loop, which I've spoken to before but I haven't know who he is, what a decent guy! Had a good chat after the game and some little bits of banter during the game, certainly next time I'll buy them both a beer and have more of a chat with them, got a lot of time for people like that!

Now I'll stop waffling cheesy%20%282%29.gif

Have to say Wattsy that your post is a breath of fresh air, a true reflection on the game and some praise for us for a change. Well done for the result today. Agree about the ref too, when speaking to him after the game he said that he was 90% sure that he got the decision wrong that led to my booking, ??????????? Good shout !!!! Still a tenner for the mistake.

Can't really add anything to your post apart from 'well done and good luck for the rest of the season'.

Thanks mate. I like to think I'm always honest and upfront!

Nice snap of one of the few headers I won against you dance%20%282%29.gif

Chertsey 3 Croydon 2

Have to say was a beautiful day for football yesterday, sunshine and to go with it a decent playing surface at the arena.

Croydon came out the traps and played some good football, to me personally not justifying their league table position, the Croydon 9 was bossing the midfield and the Croydon 10 was having some good success in the air and up and down the channels.

Croydon took the lead on about 25 mins, a good ball into the box deceived the chertsey defence and the Croydon striker tucked away from close range.

Chertsey pressed for a equaliser but some good saves by the Croydon keeper kept it at 1-0. With a minute to go, 2 Croydon players collide heads one has a golf ball lump and the other had a cut head which ref fails to stop play.

1-0 half time

Second half

Chertsey start the brighter, carving a few good chances that either went wide or keeper saves.

On about 60 mins, balls clipped into page who flicks over defenders head and defenders handballs resulting in penalty ( debatable but we'll take it lol ) the normally reliable Papali steps up and goes low to the left, keeper gets down well and tips it round the post, good save!!! Looked like it was going to be one of those days, but on 70 mins corner comes in from the left and page heads home from close range, sense of relief rings round the arena.

Chertsey pushed for a winner then on 75 mins free kick from o'regan to back post and cox heads back across goal for 2-1.

Chertsey were now in the ascendancy and got their third on 85 mins, another oregan free kick and weems or neems gets his head to it ahead of the on rushing keeper who collides into centre half resulting in serious injury.

Game delayed for 10-15 mins

Game resumes with 10 to go, low cross from oregan tucked away by page but linesman flags for offside!

Croydon win corner at other end and ball falls to Goddard who smashed a volley for 3-2 queing last few frantic minutes.

Chertsey hold on for 3 points, but have to say Croydon were very good today, organised and hungry, they are not a relegation team for me. Had a headache from Croydon manager yelling all game but I'll live!

Good luck to Croydon for rest of season and for us a hard earned 3 points and back to top of the league!!!!

Bedfont Sports 1 v 1 Eversley

A truely one sided game in terms of posession in BS favour but on the other hand a one sided game in terms of nouse in Eversley`s favour. Eversley set up today (having conceeded 5 in midwek aganist Hayes Gate) very short of 1st team regulars bringing in 4 reserve players to start the game. In these circumstances there was no choice but to be less expansive and try and be more difficult to beat. Having been beaten twice this season by Bedfont - in both games the title challengers scoring early and then defending stoutly, the aim of the visitors was to give nothing away and with Bedfont playing 1 out and out striker they were always outnumbered in the areas that really mattered. Sitting defensively deep (no doubt on Smudge`s advice!!), and with the Eversley front players occupying full backs Eversley let the bedfont centre halves have the ball when not in possession. Stuart Bamford is the best centre half i have seen in the league but certainly not a ball payer and Eversley man marked all over the pitch and let him have it ....too often he had no option but to hit long straight balls which were comfortable to defend. I`m sure Bedfont will undoubtedly feel they should have scored in the first 30 minutes and blazed a couple of half chances over/wide and Hurrell in the Eversley goal made one outstanding save from a close range goal bound header from bedfont's Adam Turner.

Then on 30 minutes, Matt Stamp latched onto a long ball and was brought down in the box by an isoloated Bedfont Sports defender for a nailed on penalty. Stamp slotted home to put the Eversley 1 up and the game plan was working. Bedfonts superb little No 10 (didn`t get his name) had other ideas and just before half time picked the ball up from just outside the box, rided two challenges, and some how found the corner off the far post off - off a deflection to draw level.

Eversley changed players at half time and put the harder working forwards Craig Smith & Matt Stamp back in to midfield to shore up, making life more difficult for an increasingly frustrated Bedfont - a tactic that was undoubtedly unsettling the promotion hopefulls.

Five minutes into the second half and it looked ominous for the visitors when Wiggins was red cared for abuse to the referee. (Unacceptable at Eversley and i`m sure it will be dealt with accordingly!). More importantly it gave the iniative to Bedfont who piled forward and made this game one of survival for Eversley. For forty minutes it was backs to the wall for the visitors with 10 men but in truth the heart, sole, and desire belonged to the visitors and Hurrell in goal had to make only one save with his feet in the second half with Bedfont being crowded out at every noteworthy opportunity. The referee played 9 minutes added on but veteran sweepwer Steve Wlmore marshalled his side immacuately and saw the Boars through . A much more solid performance than against Warlingham and Hayes G who we have played in the last week and for sheer spirit and commitment any neutral would concur that Eversley deserved a point.

The Bedfont captain and No 5 ( Bamford?) slagged us off in the bar after the game saying Eversley spoiling tactics were a disgrace! Is setting up defensively and then getting 10 men behind the ball with 40 minutes to go a disgrace?

I said earlier in the season that I thought that whoever finished above Bedfont Sports would win division 1 as they have many outsanding players but today I feel maybe they are feeling the pressure? This is a personal opinion but today our mangement had a massive impact on the game with Ian Savage (from the bench) influencing the game from 1 hour before the game until the final whistle - this seemed far more than the home sides counterparts. Bedfont Sports management play - which no doubt makes them the great side they are, but they struggled to influence their team today as they became as anxious as they teammates when it looked as though they may not get the victory they needed. There was no plan B and althoug that may just get you out of this league in the end I doubt whether that set up will be successful in the Premier. Just an opinion - 'Newby' please don`t bite my head off!! - what did you think? Best of luck to Bedfont Sports it what is going to be a thrilling end of season for you all and your team.

Newby was not at the game

Alot of teams have done there homework on us like Sheerwater did as well both teams made it very hard to brake down and from the first min you could see you had players missing and had come for the draw.

But it was sports job to brake you down and didnt,i think we have 2 of the best centre halfs in div 1 and when they play together we look good but you only got a goal from a pen and it was the only way you where going to get a goal.

Going the other way for the 2nd week running didnt look like we had the key to unlock the door.

4 teams going for 3 places going to be very closes

Id like to say so but we still have to play camberley but them only managing a draw was a decent result for us and molesley also losing.

Have to say tho Nice Guy, how irritating it is especially when your 1-0 down that u have to wait 5 mins for a match ball to be returned to play!!! Can't be helped but bitterly frustrating!!! Still 5 weeks to go and plenty up for grabs and I'm sure plenty more twists and turns yet.

Vale 0-2 Wood.

Nice sunny day on a drying and tricky surface good football was at a premium.

Both clubs have lots of injuries and it told.

Vale worked hard but created few chances and Wood wasted most of the promising situations they created.

Looked a nailed on 0-0 until Paul Bussetti escaped Danny Stevens at the front post to flash home a header from a Nathan Mottley corner. (85m)

Vale pushed on and, having made a pigs ear of a 3 on 1 Wood made it 2 through a Nathan Turner tap in. (92m).

Usual friendly welcome at Grand Drive, good programme and 3 good officials and far too many ciders for me!:492:

Not a bad tackle in the game which was ultra competitive but very sporting.

I think you gotta play us as well NLS and the way we are playing god knows what the score could be, its quite odd how adversity creates a pretty good team,i'm sure that if we'd had our senior players available in the last few weeks some of these lads might never have had a look in, but they have and we are a very difficult side to beat at the moment, ask Molesey.

your right NLS but I think you maybe throwing down the Gauntlet a bit here, thers lots of managers/ assitants from CCL clubs that use this site and this might be that extra little gee up when their teams play you,not that we need it because our boys are always fired up when we play you anyway.

not a bad idea lol, we told our lads yesterday that we are looking for a top 6 finish, you see NICE GUY this is how you keep your players playing untill the end of the season and not letting them give up at the end of february, its called management skills set the players a target and let them respond if they don't respond then wish them luck at their new clubs,we certainly don't carry passengers at Cove :)

Tempestward, worse than Cove and Bookham what Ash,but they won.So that makes Egham better than Cove and Bookham, but worse than Ash,today anyway. But hang on Cove beat Molesey today,so that makes Egham better than Molesey by your RECKONING,as you are better than Cove.Just except you lost to a better Team today NO EXCUSES.

You really are a [censored] idiot. As usual your random use of something that resembles English, but isn't, means, as usual, that whatever picky, stupid little point you are trying to make gets lost. Pity you don't seem inclined to do the same. Why do you spend your life being, like Padlock, a total prick?

We have done the double over Cove with 2-0 and 4-1 wins and over Bookham, 4-0 at home and 5-0 away. Ash are not a good side, and on today's showing neither are we, now. We lost today, probably because, after one of the most ludicrous managerial sackings I have ever seen at Egham (which is a lot in 41 years) the players were not up for the game. I did say fair play to Ash United, because they can only play what is in front of them, and what was in front of them seemed to be a dispirited side who have lost a decent man, and manager, in charge of them. Now stop beng a total twat and keep your half-arsed, unwanted and irrelevant opinions to yourself.

I disagree with your comments about our side but thats your opinion. I thought your team played some good attacking but were very disorganised at the back & if we were better finishers could easily have been more. The really bad point of your performance today & my 13yr old son told me after the game was your teams constant moaning towards the officials which i think was your main downfall in the game. However do hope the situation get sorted at your club.

On our club performance it was good to be playing a top side as it brings the best out of us & show want we can do it.

WITH CAMBERLEY DRAWING YESTERDAY, CHERTSEY BEATING CROYDON WAS A MASSIVE 3 POINTS. MOLESEY ON A BAD RUN, IN FREEFALL SO OUT OF IT NOW THEY HAVE NOTHING TO PLAY FOR, BUT I READ FROM THEIR WEBSITE THAT THEY PLAY AT CARSHALTON ON TUESDAY IN THE 1/4 FINAL OF THE SURREY SENIOR CUP SO IS IT GOOD TIMING FOR THEM GOING INTO THIS GAME ? ....... BUT GOOD LUCK THEM AND COLLIERS WOOD WHO STILL HOLD UP THE CCL FLAG AGAINST RYMAN OPPOSITION. ITS THE YEAR OF THE UNDERDOGS REMEMBER !!!

NLS AGREE THATS THE PROBLEM (NOT THE ONLY THING EITHER) WITH RUNNING TRACKS JUST LIKE GUILDFORDS SPECTRUM, THE BALL JUST GOES ON AND ON .............. SO WHERE'S THE OTHER BALLS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE HOME SIDE ARE WINNING .........LOL !!! PERHAPS WE NEED MORE SMUDGES ABOUT TO COLLECT THE BALLS BUT CLUBS SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR HELPING..............

AS YOU SAY NLS STILL A LONG WAY TO GO WITH MORE TWISTS AND TURNS.......AFTER ALL WE DIDN'T EXPECT CAMBERLEY TO DRAW WITH HORLEY (NO DISRESPECT TO HORLEY)......

DUNCS AGREE WITH YOU, IF THE PLAYERS RESPOND IS THE IMPORTANT FACTOR HERE, BUT COME ON DUNCS, YOU'VE BEEN IN THE GAME LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT THERE A QUITE A FEW PLAYERS WHO LOSE INTEREST IF THEY ''NOTHING'' TO PLAY FOR. ANYWAY, WELL DONE YESTERDAY, WERE COVE THAT GOOD OR WERE MOLESEY THAT BAD FROM READING THEIR CLUBS MATCH REPORT ....BE HONEST NOW, GIFTED 2 GOALS AND BY YOUR ADMITION YOUR KEEPER HAD A BLINDER........... ....LOL !!!

Its up to the managers and assistants to keep the players interested, so i would have to agree with Duncs. A sign of good management is a team of players that gives everything every game.

I can honestly say that every player for Cove yesterday ran their socks off and didnt give less than 100%.

As Duncs said,

Cove were seriously struggling yesterday for players. No Ken, Hayes, Shaun, Kayode, Sinclair, Naeger, Zac.

We started the match with 4 injured players, Johnno (Hammy), Tom McGarry (foot), Noad (flu), Greenaway (hammy) and we even had to put an injured Cardona and the boss (Koo) on the bench with neither having any desire to come on. The reserves only had 11 and a half players.

I think Molesey were short of some of their best players but for Cove to start with 4 injured players that all would not have started if we'd have had a full quota of players is a testament to how well the players battled through for a fine win.

Thankfully an extra days rest as we have CWU on Wednesday which I hope is enough time for recovery of those injured few!

Cove may be in 11th place but I cant wait for the next match and to finish the season on a high by finishing above Ash Utd and as high up the league as possible. Loads to play for!!!

Thanks for the comments about Egham Town FC. Our moaning is something the new boss, whoever he (she? that would set the tongues wagging!) is wiould have to address. I can only say that Ash did not look as organised or compact against us Bookham and Cove, and yet James Hennessey got hat-tricks against both. We hardy few supporters were actually encouraged by the first half showing, but you are right about the defence. How your lot, though, missed the open goal that disorganisation presented you in the second half will never be explained. Your keeper was holding his head in his hands after that miss. I recall our first CCL visit to Ash and your back five were awesome. It was probably the most cohesive display by a defensive unit I have seen in this league and I think you did us 3-0. On the moaning again, though, one of your coaching staff asked me and UK Sub if we had seen a worse display from the officials, to which I replied "Yes, at Horley." How Nathan Blanks got booked for being fouled is beyond me. Now I have probably got to put up with more idiotic rambling from Smudge and Padlock.

Tempesteward, just seen your post, regards my views about Egham.I am an idiot,a total pri*k,and I make stupid little points,I have never in your short time on here abused you in anyway.Learnt many years ago, that when a person resorts to swearing at you,you have won the argument.Where you are going wrong is thinking Egham are a big Club, maybe they are in your eyes, but not mine.,and never have been.I believe a Club gets it's reputation from the top down,so can I blame your Chairman, who yes I have met,for the Arrogance that abounds at Egham. That has been shown in the last week by his ludicrous sacking of Steve Baker, but he is not the first to suffer in this way.Now lets put you in perspective, never ever praised the opposition when you have lost,Refs get the blame,Pitch gets the blame,Arrogance of the highest order.Your first post ever even slagged Steve Baker. As for Padlock I have had the pleasure of meeting him,and he is a totally nice guy,may not come across that way on here, but I can assure you he is.You see I have an advantage over you,I DO NOT SUPPORT ONE TEAM, ASK ANYONE WHO HAS MET ME,I AM OPINIONATED,BUT UNLIKE YOU I DO NOT WEAR---ROSE TINTED GLASSES.

As i said to Steve Brown on Facebook Cove just wanted it more than Molesey

Every season Molesey no matter how the season has gone always seem to fizzle out at the end
