Official Match Report for Cove 3-1 Molesey:

Calamity Joe

By David Morgan

Cove 3-1 Molesey

Joe Yeates (og) '20 Reggie Savage '84

Tom McGarry '28, '60 (pen)

Molesey saw their stuttering late season form continue today after another disappointing performance made it five defeats in the last six games ruined any chance of silverware this season (barring the Surrey Senior Cup, the next round of which is away to Carshalton on Tuesday).

The Moles had to name a changed team from previous weeks. Jordan McCartney came back into the team to replace Moses Spencer who was absent through work. Louis Taylor made his first team debut when he came in for the missing Danny Coombes.

The game kicked off in unusually warm and sunny climate, which may be why Molesey had such a slow start to the game. The game started at a very sedate pace which was more fitting for a pre-season friendly rather than a league game.

The first chance came in the 17th minute when after a period of sustained Cove pressure Luke Elliott threw himself in front of the ball, then Wester Young made a good close range save to keep the scores level.

However, it proved to only be slightly delaying the inevitable. Molesey hadn't started when in the 20th minute they found themselves behind.

Jordan McCartney grossly misjudged a header towards Wester Young which saw Cove gain possesion right in front of goal, luck went against the Moles however and following Youngs brave save the ball rebounded off of Joe Yeates shins and flew into the corner of the net giving the home side the lead.

Before Molesey had mustered a reaction they were two goals down when a simple corner saw Joe Yeates lose his man and give Tom McGarry an easy back post header to double the lead.

Two minutes later Molesey briefly thought they were back in the game but Arnold Tawonezvi's little flick right in front of the 'keeper was ruled out for offside.

Molesey rang the changes at half time as Louis Taylor and Joe Pratley-Jones were both withdrawn for Marlon Rodney and Reggie Savage.

But the changes didn't give Molesey the spark they needed and after putting a one on one chance wide, Molesey gifted the home side a third and deciding goal.

Joe Yeates made a rash challenge in the box which everyine could see was a penalty. Tm McGarry stepped up and smashed the ball into the corner making Young dive the wrong way at the same time.

Molesey made their last change to bring on Doug Ford for Andy Graves.

Molesey were a bit improved in the second half and the change to 4-4-2 and and increased tempo definately helped the visitors.

Molesey got a consolation for their improved second half showing when a long ball was expertly taken down by Reggie Savage who then turned well and hit a good strike into the corner to make the score a bit more respectable.

But it wasn't enough for the Moles and although everyone underperformed Joe Yeates will want to forget this game after scoring an own goal, losing a man from a corner leading to a goal and conceding a penalty. His mood won't be helped by the silly booking in the first half for kicking the ball away.

So Molesey travel into what could be their last meaningful game of the season away at Carshalton. Victoy there and Molesey will still have a chance for a trophy, defeat and the Moles will be looking to next season.

Yeah but the first was an own goal and the other two were scored by the number 4

Tom McGarry i heard. He's usually RB. Loves a goal!

Tom has been a right back for the last 2 seasons at Cove but he has been filling in at centre half and doing a great job, today we had a bare 11 with Elliot Cardona and Koo on the bench even if someone had been injured they would probably have not gone on,great display from our lads as we soaked up loads of Molesey pressure and played on the break, the spine of our team was superb with Gary our goalkeeper having another great game, mom JJ was a trojan and the only time he stopped running was at half time,Noady too had a great game as did Alex up front.

Camberley 1 Horley 1.

Horley had a man sent off at about 60 mins and were 1-0 down but managed to get an equaliser on about 75.

Not a great footballing performance from Horley but with only the ten men going up the slight hill, they sat deep and soaked up everything Camberley threw at them,it was a real great defensive display.

LENSMASTER-

I suggest you get the facts from your players before you write such rubbish

Your player was off due to blood on his shirt and had been for over a minute or two. Your keeper had the ball and just threw the ball out completely out of the blue so that the ref could check their was no blood on his shirt. You could have played on until a genuine stop but decided not too. Dont pretend it was anything else and your no 3 totally agreed he would have done the same and played on. It was totally different to when the ball is kicked out to check a players injury, we are hardly going to help you get a player back on.

Your post is out of order. Croydon were excellent today and we are pleased to get away with the three points. if you continue to play like that then you should easily pull away from the relegation battle, unlike your silly comments I wont wish extra luck to Dorking, Bookham etc. Amazing that none of your comittee complained to me and as usual they were all very welcoming before and after the match.

More importantly all at CTFC wish your player a speedy recovery from what I hope is not a nasty injury.

Yes we did play well today. Your Number 7 was a terror to the defenders and was probably your man of the match.

I don't think I was out of order. I said like I saw it. Our bench called for the ball to be put out so the ref could see it and our players did just that.

I was impressed by your players after Moores' injury and all of them were concerned at his injury. And I was even more impressed by your physio coming on to see if he could help.

Thanks for the kind comments. I won't say we deserved anything today because it's goals that pay the rent but we stood up to be counted and with a bit of the old rub of the green we could have pulled off a bit of a surprise. That's 3 games in a row where we've played pretty well and got nothing. Both sides looked a bit nervous in the 2nd half, Croydon with their slender lead and with the pressure on Chertsey to get back into the game. Chertsey keeper Craig Bradshaw (at Croydon last season so we know how good he is) was my man of the match although O'Regan (the 7) is the real deal.

As to the incident - Chertsey did nothing wrong - we threw the ball out to get our man back out on the pitch, the ref couldn't just he wave him on as he had to check the blood contamination. If there was a problem it was the ref not stopping the game for the original head injury.

In any case everything was overshadowed by the injury to David Moores. Let's hope things are a lot less serious than they initially appeared. Get well soon David.

Feltham 1 Sheerwater 0

We came out of this 'battle' with three points and i'll be honest here...We were fortunate!! On a bobbly pitch with possibly the worst referee's performance I've seen for some time, this meant that a 'football match' couldn't be played!!

Both side started out fairly even but the Sheers started to take slight control of possesion but didn't really create all too much except a header off the bar. Around hal an hour we played possibly the only real 'football play' from ourselves after I won a tackle and our centre midfielder drilled a low through ball with the outside of his foot, this unleashed our lightning young winger who wasn't being caught and laid the ball square for our forward to tap into an empty net, 1-0. The rest out the half was fairly stretched in truth, almost like it was the end of a game with both sides throwing bodies forward without really creating anything again.

Second half and this is where it became annoying and frustrating at the same time! The referee's linesman had 58 minutes on it at the end of the match and this game didn't see any player recieve treatment from either bench and wasn't a dirty game in anyway. The referee was very whistle happy and was giving odd decisions for no apparent reason and left both sides baffled at times and on nearly ever throw in decision he was going against the linesman on the dugout side which again buffled and annoyed both sides! He then started getting card happy, mainly with us and failed to play any advantages. I was suprised as normally we've had him he has been very good, but then also after the game apologised for, wait for it...'Having a bad day at the office'

Anyway back to the game. Sheers had the lion share of the second half and created a number of clear cut chances, from hitting the bar on two or three other occasions, even blazing over from two yards at one point with an open goal bearing down on the just on substitute and then again another solid display from our keeper making a couple of fine saves to keep the Sheers at bay. I did feel bad for them in a way, they deserved at least a point out of the game maybe more, but thats football right? Sometimes you win ugly when you don't really deserve (like we did today), then there are games where you dominate but don't get any reward. Normally teams at the top can play poor but come away with a 4-0 win, it never makes sense and I guess that's why we all love the game, because every game is different. Sheerwater are certainly not a poor side and we've played poorer sides who are in the top ten and if they keep going the right way with these same players then next season they will be ones to watch in my opinion!!

I was nice marking Young Veteran most of the game as I was moved from my right back role and into centre half for today and was struggling a little with an infected toe, but enjoyed it with a clean sheet to boot! I also met 'Cookie' aka Loop, which I've spoken to before but I haven't know who he is, what a decent guy! Had a good chat after the game and some little bits of banter during the game, certainly next time I'll buy them both a beer and have more of a chat with them, got a lot of time for people like that!

Now I'll stop waffling cheesy%20%282%29.gif

Have to say Wattsy that your post is a breath of fresh air, a true reflection on the game and some praise for us for a change. Well done for the result today. Agree about the ref too, when speaking to him after the game he said that he was 90% sure that he got the decision wrong that led to my booking, ??????????? Good shout !!!! Still a tenner for the mistake.

Can't really add anything to your post apart from 'well done and good luck for the rest of the season'.

Bedfont Sports 1 v 1 Eversley

A truely one sided game in terms of posession in BS favour but on the other hand a one sided game in terms of nouse in Eversley`s favour. Eversley set up today (having conceeded 5 in midwek aganist Hayes Gate) very short of 1st team regulars bringing in 4 reserve players to start the game. In these circumstances there was no choice but to be less expansive and try and be more difficult to beat. Having been beaten twice this season by Bedfont - in both games the title challengers scoring early and then defending stoutly, the aim of the visitors was to give nothing away and with Bedfont playing 1 out and out striker they were always outnumbered in the areas that really mattered. Sitting defensively deep (no doubt on Smudge`s advice!!), and with the Eversley front players occupying full backs Eversley let the bedfont centre halves have the ball when not in possession. Stuart Bamford is the best centre half i have seen in the league but certainly not a ball payer and Eversley man marked all over the pitch and let him have it ....too often he had no option but to hit long straight balls which were comfortable to defend. I`m sure Bedfont will undoubtedly feel they should have scored in the first 30 minutes and blazed a couple of half chances over/wide and Hurrell in the Eversley goal made one outstanding save from a close range goal bound header from bedfont's Adam Turner.

Then on 30 minutes, Matt Stamp latched onto a long ball and was brought down in the box by an isoloated Bedfont Sports defender for a nailed on penalty. Stamp slotted home to put the Eversley 1 up and the game plan was working. Bedfonts superb little No 10 (didn`t get his name) had other ideas and just before half time picked the ball up from just outside the box, rided two challenges, and some how found the corner off the far post off - off a deflection to draw level.

Eversley changed players at half time and put the harder working forwards Craig Smith & Matt Stamp back in to midfield to shore up, making life more difficult for an increasingly frustrated Bedfont - a tactic that was undoubtedly unsettling the promotion hopefulls.

Five minutes into the second half and it looked ominous for the visitors when Wiggins was red cared for abuse to the referee. (Unacceptable at Eversley and i`m sure it will be dealt with accordingly!). More importantly it gave the iniative to Bedfont who piled forward and made this game one of survival for Eversley. For forty minutes it was backs to the wall for the visitors with 10 men but in truth the heart, sole, and desire belonged to the visitors and Hurrell in goal had to make only one save with his feet in the second half with Bedfont being crowded out at every noteworthy opportunity. The referee played 9 minutes added on but veteran sweepwer Steve Wlmore marshalled his side immacuately and saw the Boars through . A much more solid performance than against Warlingham and Hayes G who we have played in the last week and for sheer spirit and commitment any neutral would concur that Eversley deserved a point.

The Bedfont captain and No 5 ( Bamford?) slagged us off in the bar after the game saying Eversley spoiling tactics were a disgrace! Is setting up defensively and then getting 10 men behind the ball with 40 minutes to go a disgrace?

I said earlier in the season that I thought that whoever finished above Bedfont Sports would win division 1 as they have many outsanding players but today I feel maybe they are feeling the pressure? This is a personal opinion but today our mangement had a massive impact on the game with Ian Savage (from the bench) influencing the game from 1 hour before the game until the final whistle - this seemed far more than the home sides counterparts. Bedfont Sports management play - which no doubt makes them the great side they are, but they struggled to influence their team today as they became as anxious as they teammates when it looked as though they may not get the victory they needed. There was no plan B and althoug that may just get you out of this league in the end I doubt whether that set up will be successful in the Premier. Just an opinion - 'Newby' please don`t bite my head off!! - what did you think? Best of luck to Bedfont Sports it what is going to be a thrilling end of season for you all and your team.

Tempestward, worse than Cove and Bookham what Ash,but they won.So that makes Egham better than Cove and Bookham, but worse than Ash,today anyway. But hang on Cove beat Molesey today,so that makes Egham better than Molesey by your RECKONING,as you are better than Cove.Just except you lost to a better Team today NO EXCUSES.

You really are a [censored] idiot. As usual your random use of something that resembles English, but isn't, means, as usual, that whatever picky, stupid little point you are trying to make gets lost. Pity you don't seem inclined to do the same. Why do you spend your life being, like Padlock, a total prick?

We have done the double over Cove with 2-0 and 4-1 wins and over Bookham, 4-0 at home and 5-0 away. Ash are not a good side, and on today's showing neither are we, now. We lost today, probably because, after one of the most ludicrous managerial sackings I have ever seen at Egham (which is a lot in 41 years) the players were not up for the game. I did say fair play to Ash United, because they can only play what is in front of them, and what was in front of them seemed to be a dispirited side who have lost a decent man, and manager, in charge of them. Now stop beng a total twat and keep your half-arsed, unwanted and irrelevant opinions to yourself.

Drummie's report

This match was switched to Green Lane due to Farnborough North ends ground being currently unavailable.

On 5 minutes a good run through the middle by Jermaine Hamilton saw the ball break to Dan Brownlie whose cross saw Phil John just offside. A minute later a good run by Phil John saw a good cross which Simeon Howell headed just over. Hesitant defending by Hartley gave North End a chance but the shot from the edge of the box went just over. On 12 minutes the Hartley took the lead with an excellent goal. A long free kick saw Jermaine Hamilton lay the ball back with his chest to KIERON THORNE whose volley with the outside of the boot beat the goalie all ends up. Six minutes later Hartley stretched their lead. Good interplay down the right involving Phil John, Jermaine Hamilton and Simeon Howell saw a good ball across the box. DAN BROWNLIE had time to stop the ball before converting easily with a low shot.

North End had their best spell of the match just after this goal and a fierce drive brought a good save from Lee Alen who palmed the ball over. Hartley endured a few minutes of pressure from a few corners and free kicks not helped by poor matching (small players marking big guys etc.). On 25 minutes a bit of controversy. Phil John was hauled down while trying to get on the end of a free kick. the referee immediately pointed to the spot and the box was cleared. However no one noticed that the linesman had his flag up. The ref. consulted and a free kick was awarded to North End.On 38 minutes after a sustained period of pressure a free kick was headed on by one of the Hartley defenders to SIMEON HOWELL who headed home from close range. Poor matching again at a free kick saw a downward header bring out a smart save from Lee Allen at his post. On the stroke of half time Jermaine Hamilton was unlucky to see a good effort go just over.

Half Time Farnborough North End 0 Hartley Wintney 3

Hartley came close to increasing their lead when one of the central defenders came up for a free kick and headed just past. On 48 minutes a ball across the North End box was handled by the right back. The ref. refused to award the kick and a Hartley player was booked for his protests.

The game entered a dull phase with little action and a lot of misplaced passes from both sides. Things were not helped by an over fussy referee who constantly brought play to a stop. The only incidents of note were a Keiron Thorne shot which went just past and a good effort from Phil John which also went close. In the final minutes Phil John was brought down in the box. The same player converted the kick securing Hartley a comfortable win.

Best for the home side were Keiron Thorne, Simeon Howell and Phil John.
