This decision was based solely on the club's results, and has resulted with Iain leaving his position with immediate effect. The Directors would like to thank Iain for his total commitment and dedication to his duties and wish him every success for his future in football. Senior players Craig Cloke, James Pinnock and Wayne Wilson have been asked to manage team affairs for Gate's trip to Hendon tomorrow, Saturday. Wellsie
The guy has done wonders with what he's got avaliable in funds. That is unfair and inaccurate. Whilst for obvious reasons the details are NOT in the public domain, we still have a very competitive budget for this division. psych
Shame that the budget didn't stretch to paying what Herne Bay wanted for Marsden. Iain found a gem of a player there and his departure was a big loss.
JohnKirby
If we've got such a big budget how come we don't even have a full squad of players?

wade
Clearly nobody lined up. You tell a guy he is not having his contract renewed, he not surprisingly tells you to stick it and quits on the spot and oops no plan B. That's good planning
Twist&Shout
planning of MFC in general is a joke, as i've said before, i was IOC;s biggest fan but this is a shambles...so many shambolic dodgy dealings and just crap goes on at the club! Benjammin
I'm not too sure what to think about this at the moment. However, I started listening to IOC in his interview after the Bury match, and stopped it half way through after listening to the same thing that I had listened to all season, i.e we didn't deserve to lose, we were the better team, we just need to put our chances away etc. I did exactly the same thing! ''The lads are gutted etc etc etc'' It was a nice day last saturday and i decided to stay in and watch soccer saturday. I'm not totally sure what to make of Iain leaving but as a season ticket holder who lives less than 5mins from the ground not going to the match speaks volumes of what i think of the football we've been playing under him. Boney Crisp
The rate we are going through managers at the moment is shambolic in all honesty. This is one of the main reasons why we won't be a successful club for quite a while. Who will be our manger in 2 years time, well the chances/stats don't look good for the next manager coming in. Players come and leave as they like as well, so to me that suggests we don't necessarily have the biggest budget or even a competitive one in all honesty. Fair enough O'Connell recent form has been very poor indeed, but I don't think we were in danger of relegation and tbh, i think the players need to look at themselves. It's not like O'Connell took a team on the brink of promotion to where we are now, it happened the other way round. For the last 4 years I've noticed a real lack of passion from the players when i watch Margate and that is why we are failing not because the manager isn't getting the results, because the players don't simply put the effort in
Cookie
Its a lack of passion from certain supporters staying at home that dosen't help matters.Hey, O'Connells departure could even be down to them if you think about it. In what way cookie? I see where your theory may be coming from although I may not agree.. Less fans = less money = less budget = less players...!?? Dutch_Mike
There's no way you're telling me some of our 'stars' aren't on decent wages. I'm pretty sure our budget is very competitive for this level.
Boney Crisp
Well 2 of our 'stars' left for Maidstone recently, so there budget must be more competitive than ours.
dannyriding
There's no way you're telling me some of our 'stars' aren't on decent wages. I'm pretty sure our budget is very competitive for this level. Pretty sure that a good number of players we have got are on £200 plus a week times that by 11 and you get a rough idea of our budget..... or ... do you - cos JS was on more than £350 plus and a certain number of players (stars) are on the same amount, so given that the starting budget for IOC was £3500 max... you do the Math and add to that PAYE (thats Tax btw) all makes for a lot more than is available to the average manager in BSS let alone Ryman Prem. Sometimes it is easy to slag off what is not tangible and transparrent, however sit back and consider how much you as a fan are prepared to pay to watch a "decent" set of players on HDP. I am not in favour of letting IOC go and want it noted I think the decision was wrong, however I dont pay the wages and dont know "ALL" the facts so therefore I will be attending as a fan of MFC at the next game and every game I can afford to watch until such time as the TDC take our club away from us. People moan about budgets etc etc (certainly lower than it was at the beginning of the season thats for sure) but they don't turn up to help out financially or otherwise. It all adds up GA11. One spectator, two spectators, three spectators four. It all adds up & prevents us from improving all round.
