It appears we are once again a subject of conversation on our friends closed forum. They will claim they have no interest in us whatsoever :biglaugh:

Posted RFC forum

I think most of us would support a move to Bridge Avenue if the terms were right, but it would need the approval of Hornchurch as without that, the league who dislike groundshares anyway, would turn it down flat.

I don't know about the exact state of Hornchurch's finances these days (and they probably don't either), but despite their plummeting crowds they seem to think they can manage ok on their own.

Alan, you mentioned that they pay a peppercorn rent for Hornchurch Stadium. As a council tax payer I would like to know exactly how much.

You could ask under an FOI request however given AFC are a "non-public" body it might prevent a disclosure under commercial confidentiality. Worth a try though.

Maybe.Funny how they say it's us that have the problem with them but we play nice with them for 6 months and they can't help but still get in with the sly digs. They will know say we are spying on them!!!

I'm sure none of our 'new' found romford fans who frequent this forum would ever suggest anything such a thing

I don't think there has been a sly dig at Hornchurch for months now, on the forum or anywhere else for that matter.

I agree no sly digs but certainley points of discussion as per a post on the RFC closed forum with a possible proposal to force the Councils hand

I'm sorry Barry but I passionately believe that a groundshare with Hornchurch is our best option, and I also believe that AFCH could possibly see a groundshare as a way of alleviating their own financial crisis. I also believe that if AFCH were less than enthusiastic, we could offer the LBH to pay the same rent as Hornchurch and they would be forced to consider any such proposals as they have a legal obligation to maximise revenue from their assets, and failure to do so could mean councillors being surcharged for the amount of money lost, although to be fair, I don't think that strategy would be acceptable.

I do however accept that a groundshare can only work if all parties fully support the aims of such a venture, and it seems that forum users appear lukewarm to the idea, even though none of us have a clue where the huge amount of money needed is coming from

As you say, no sly digs, and I also said that forcing the councils hand unacceptable and that a groundshare can only work if ALL parties support it.

Many thanks though for reproducing my post in its entirety which I at least though was fair and balanced, and definitely unoffensive.

I guess your post using words like forced and legal obligation on a closed fourm lent to the misunderstanding missunderstood
