Shows how tired I was, it was 1 - 1, both goals in first half extra time.

Sandhurst should have had the game sewn up by half time against a pedestrian Flackwell Heath but for the crossbar and at least three goal line clearances. Second half much the same but too many aimless long balls by Sandhurst and poor final delivery ensured extra time. Sandhurst goalkeeper only made one save all game. Referee had an average game but did not affect the outcome. More worring for Sandhurst must be the lack of depth in the squad. A couple of substitutions and the mid field was non existent.

 

Contrary to rumours Newport Pagnell are not in the semi final of the FA Vase.

Kicked off late due to no show of a lino!

Fog no problem in first half which we led via a scuffed free kick on 38 minutes.

In 50th minute, nearside lino said he couldn't see far side and, after 10 minute delay, the ref abandoned the game. (Lino didn't see much in 1st half anyway)!

2nd time we have had a game abandoned while leading.

Frustrating, annoying and, with a little common sense we could have continued as conditions improved.

MVSCR 2-0 Croydon

 

Strange game, as for long periods Croydon looked by far the better side, and one of the better ones we have seen this season, but yet we took our chances and they did not.

 

Croydon dominated opening exchanges, and should have scored inside 20 seconds, but our keeper did well, and that set the tone for them, with chances coming and going. We took lead midway through first half, with a cross that deceived both keeper and centre half and drifted in.

 

Our keeper pulled off a stunner to stop them equalising, and we improved towards the end of the half, but were relieved to go in 1-0 at ht.

 

Second half similar story, with Croydon wasting chances, although we were having more joy down the flanks, but were unable to create anything meaningful. Sealed win with two minutes to go, Jay Holden chased ball down, keeper came out of box to clear, scuffed to Terry Fennessy, who squared to Liam Holden who fired home.

 

Felt sorry for Croydon as they played well and deserved something, still we have had games when we have played much better and lost, so swings and roundabouts.

CROYDON IN BOTTOM 3 ........RELEGATION ???............ CROYDON HAVE SOME DECENT PLAYERS WHO I WOULD IMAGINE ARE ON A BIT OF MONEY, SO THEY SHOULD HAVE A LOOK AT THEMSELVES......PERHAPS, OR COULD IT BE THE MANAGEMENT ? INTERESTING FARLEIGH V CROYDON NEXT SEASON ?
