THE HORNCHURCH GRASS IS BACK

Recommended Posts

It seems the Hornchurch Grass is back, apparently in this weeks NLP a letter has been written by a fan complaining about bad language from youngsters in the Eastside. This is less than a month since probably the same person wrote to the league and two clubs with ridiculous claims. It is also not too long ago that a couple of fans who seem to have delicate ears moaned about a drum being used. What do these people want, the language on the eastside terrace has been known to be a bit choice at times but tell me a terrace that doesn't have this problem. If you have a problem why not speak to the club instead of running to the papers and making a small problem sound worse than it is.

All you have proceeded to do is cost the club money as I know at least two young fans who have been told they won't be going to Hornchurch again because of the letter. This at a time when the club is trying to attract more fans, well done!!

I wouldn't mind betting they are the person who complains about us training at the park

In all seriousness, although I understand that not everyone likes swearing, terraced areas are the areas in football that are more likely to have more vocal fans who do from time to time let their frustrations be known with the odd bit of bad language. My problem is that this person could of quite easily gone to the club or even the Supporters Association and put a complaint in,which they did not do.They went to a national publication and gave the club bad press when it isn't fair or needed. To be honest I speak to many fans who sit in the eastside seating area and they never hear any bad language so I would assume it's someone who sits around the directors box or stands in the eastside, which to be honest,if you don't like swearing, you just don't stand there.I went to Harrow Saturday and their terrace area had a few of their locals who from time to time swore,it's no different at most grounds

Was it about Hornchurch in general or could it have been just the Aveley oiks?

I'm going to swear more tonight in the hope I'll flush the grass out.

Then feed my plastic cup to them.

(In reality I'll stay quiet and just mentally judge everyone like usual)

To be fair, part of me feels quite happy. "youngsters" !!! I'm 38 years old!!!

Or is it just an ageist thing?

Perhaps this person is getting out-sworn by the new breed and doesn't c*nting well like it.

I doubt it is anyone affiliated to the club, but in the directors box there are not always club officials in there and also there are obviously away directors. This is more what I meant, our own officials will have no doubt just spoke to any offending fans or minimum gone directly to the club, others are spineless and go straight to a paper

I'm no saint, but at least I don't have to worry about swearing in front of kids, because unfortunately they are about as rare as rocking horse sh1t at our games. I do though think bad language is a massive problem and will put off families coming to our matches, which harms all clubs at our level.

Great idea, and mighty Romford are at home to Ilford tonight and a massive crowd of up to one hundred is anticipated, for what we expect to be the ultimate football experience.

If any fan is unhappy about any aspect of the club, then surely a move to contact the officials of the club to voice your grievances would be the most appropiate action.

If you are a fan then you owe it to the club to do so.

I'm guessing that this didn't happen in this case and as such I would not label this person as a proper fan.

As for swearing at games, I hear swearing at a lot of grounds I go to from opposing fans.

Whether or not you feel it's acceptable, there's very little chance of changing that culture.
