No, the 1,700 was a kind of interim petition - to communicate the level of support being generated to let the Council know that a big one was coming.

We can't rely on these signatiures ALONE to carry this through but surely the ratio of 10 to 1 FOR the project to get the go ahead HAS to speak volumes. Hopefully it WILL have a desired affect on the decision makers.

A fantastic achievement to get that many in such a short space of time.

Incidentally others I spoke to in the steeets who DIDNT sign it (didn't do so so for personal reasons or in a rush to be somewhere), were certainly NOT AGAINST the project going ahead. In fact many of them said that ANY IMPROVEMENT to the area would be a good thing.

This as we all know is one such improvement not only for the club but for the town too.

Of all the people I offerd the petition too, 20 or so said no because, they never signed petitions. A couple said no because, they didn't like football. A hand full of people said initially they would not sign because they had signed the other one. After spending time talking to them all but one thought they had been mislead and signed in support. The odd one wanted to go on the club web site to confirm what I had told her before, signing on line. I would like to thank all the businesses I canvassed for the100% support, not one said no. Alan Bonner and I spent a good 1/2 hour with one, dead against it (dog walker in the park) guy , being given the 3rd degree, before he signed.

Thank you all.
